I Was Praying for a Good Cup of Coffee at the Church!

A different coffee blog today, as I went to church! Well, that's not quite true, it's a café that belongs to a local church, St Thomas' Church Café, to be precise. The online reviews and photos looked good, so we thought it would be nice to go somewhere different. It was a cold, rainy day, as usual, so I was looking forward to having a nice hot cup of coffee.

In the foyer, there was a box to place your wet umbrellas, a box to place your used ink cartridges to be recycled, and the local foodbank organisation had left a box for people to donate food. There was a list of the food items they were short of. The UK is a rich country, yet there are still people who can't afford to buy much food, and the rich will get richer.

I will be honest, I thought they might serve instant coffee, which I'm not keen on because I've got used to 'posh coffee'. I was pleasantly surprised that it was proper coffee. We ordered two lattes with oat milk. It was really good, although it could have been stronger.

They offer a coffee voucher scheme, so every time you have a coffee, your card will be stamped and, on the tenth coffee, you will get it free. It's a good way of getting you to go back.

They also offer snacks, buns, and cakes. We didn't have time on this visit to have food, but I will definitely make a return visit.

The decor was bright and airy, and it gave off a nice, welcoming vibe. Obviously, as it belongs to the church, there were a few religious quotes on the wall.

Overall, it was a pleasant first visit with good coffee . The atmosphere was very friendly. I'd heard it gets very busy, and I can understand why, as there were other community rooms where people can go to yoga classes or do other activities. The participants then pop next door to the café. When we got there, hardly anyone was there, but it soon filled up.

I'm pleased you got proper coffee, and I love the idea of "going to Church" for coffee. I'm an instant believer! 😅

Nice coffee shop! The coffee looks good, I also prefer stronger coffee. The snacks are quite expensive!

That's the downside, snacks are always expensive in coffee shops. I just see them as a treat, now and again.
