Fungi Friday: The Woods have Ears

It was a nice surprise when I was out on a walk to come across some fungi, just in time for #fungifriday, initiated by @ewkaw. My favourite ones were the jelly ears. Even though I like them, I don't like to touch them.

They really do look like severed ears growing on the tree trunks. Perhaps I have too vivid an imagination. Perhaps I watch too many crime programmes. At this point, it started to rain quite heavily with a bit of sleet in the mix. Trying to take photos when your hands are cold and wet can be a bit tricky, especially when your phone doesn't like damp weather either.

I also spotted what looked like tiny fungi, but I'm not actually 100% sure if they are actually fungi. I only spotted them because of their bright colour. Both of them were on the tree trunk.

I also found some birch polypore fungi. They were rock solid growing on the trees. I think they looked quite good in the mist.

The last ones I found were turkey tails, I think. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any closer because it was like a quagmire in front of me. I wasn't sure how deep the water was. I like spotting fungi but I'm not risking life or limb for them!
