Fun at the Village Fete
It was my village fete today. I didn’t have to go far as it is literally straight across from where I live. I headed straight over to the vintage cars stationed on the football pitch with just my mobile phone. I like to travel light when I'm looking around things. First car I saw was an old Austin.
Next in line was a Wolseley 1500. The cars were in immaculate condition. Their owners take real pride in them.
Next was a Morris Minor Traveller or the 'woodie' after the wooden panelling. If anyone can remember Dame Edna Everage, she once nicknamed it 'the half timbered car'. I'm showing my age now.
I then met the man with a tractor. He asked me if I wanted to sit on the tractor. There's an offer I couldn’t refuse! I actually have an old tractor seat posing as a fruit bowl in my flat. Anyway, he helped me jump up. He was in his 80s but looked as fit as a fiddle. After about 10 minutes putting the world to rights, I disembarked. All good fun!
You don't see many metal milk churns nowadays. As a youngster, I used to see them just outside the farm waiting for the milk to be picked up to be taken to the dairy.
I popped into the cricket pavilion where they were selling tea and coffee. The cup said 'Costa' on the side but it didn’t taste as good. In fact, I wasn't sure what it tasted like. We did get a free bottle of water though, as it was quite hot and sunny.
My friend enrolled his dog into the cutest puppy competition. Unfortunately, they didn’t win but they came back with a certificate and a bag of dog biscuits! They were robbed! 😁 At this point I went back home. You can only have so much fun in one day.
