Forgotten Cabin in the Wood

Driving around the country lanes, I stumbled across another layby that led into the wood. I've been walking in this area before but not down this particular path. Walking past the logs, I entered the wooded area.

There were a few discarded pumpkins in the wood leftover from Halloween. People leave them in the countryside so the wildlife can eat them. Technically, they should put them off the ground as they are poisonous to hedgehogs. Having said that, I've never, ever seen a discarded pumpkin that has been nibbled by any wildlife. They just tend to rot away.

I had no idea where the path led. The sun was out and even though it was a bit frosty this morning, it was quite warm. The sun's rays were streaming through the trees.

The brown braken still looked nice against the green backdrop.

I literally came across the cabin in the wood! I thought it was a derelict outbuilding, but after a quick look inside it appeared to have had a fire place at some point that had been bricked up. Perhaps it used to be a smallholding.

The only fungi I spotted, but it was a nice one.

Carrying along the footpath, there was a flooded area. This time there was no way around it, so I had to do a slight detour.

Where there wasn't any sun, the bracken was still covered in frost.

There were private land signs which obviously were inaccessible to the general public. I will have to research the area a bit more, so next time I go, I'll have an idea of where I'm going!
