Discovering Bow Wood: A Walk Through Nature
As the warmer weather continues, we decided to go for a walk through Bow Wood. The beginning of our journey was an uphill climb. During the summer months, this woodland is adorned with bluebells, creating a carpet of blue across the ground. Unfortunately, it is still a bit early in the season for them to make their appearance.
As we walked through the woods, we came to old gateposts. These random remnants of the past made you wonder about what might have existed here long ago.
Along the path, we encountered a tree that had leaned across the trail, requiring us to duck beneath it to continue our journey.
This view shows the area beneath the tree, with its trunk leaning over the stone wall. You can't help but wonder what caused the tree to lean over like that.
At the top of the incline, there is a lovely stone cottage.
The cottage offers panoramic views that stretch down the hill.
At the bottom of their garden were clusters of purple heather, attracting lots of butterflies. Among them, we were fortunate enough to capture glimpses of a peacock and a comma flitting about.
At the end of our walk, we spotted a blue plaque next to someone's house. In the UK, these are historical markers that are fixed to the side of buildings, signifying a historical connection to an individual, event, or a former structure. They provide information about the heritage and history of certain places. This one told us that local author Alison Uttley (1884 - 1976) had once lived here.
At this point, the walk began to go uphill once more, we thought this was the ideal point to turn around and retrace our steps back down the hill. I just don't like hills!
Wow! Lovely day with bright blue sky and sunshine! Nice walk in nature. I miss the spring atmosphere.
Awesome place. The panoramic view of the landscape stretched endlessly. Oh! the butterfly rested gracefully at the top of the flower. Nice shots!
Thank you very much @gretelarmfeg. 🙏
