Coffee at the "Bounding Hare" on the Moors

While we were out for a drive in the Derbyshire (UK) countryside, we called in at the "Bounding Hare" which is a converted horsebox serving hot and cold drinks and sweet and savoury food including vegan. The little "café" is parked up in a local car park up on the moors.

The weather has been quite hot for some time, so we sat at the table next to the trailer, to enjoy a nice cool breeze coming off the moors and to take in the view. The owner mentioned that the hot weather can be harmful to the business, as people are just as likely to stay indoors when it's too hot as they are when it's cold. All I can say is, we are a fickle lot.

We opted for a decaffeinated latte and a cappuccino made with oat milk. We were a bit peckish so we had a couple of vegan sausage rolls. There was also a good array of vegan cakes, but I decided to be good for once.

The colour of the sausage rolls looked like they had been nuked, but surprisingly, they were quite tasty. I didn't expect much from the drinks, given it was a converted horse box, but the coffee was surprisingly good.

As we were out on the moors, the café definitely attracts different customers dropping by, such as hikers, dog walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists, not forgetting two chaps on quad bikes.

There were nice little touches on the trailer and the owner was very welcoming.

Repurposed horseboxes for various business ideas seem to be the way to go. The owners only started the business a few months ago. Let's hope the weather is kind to them one way or another to make the business a success. The view from our seats wasn't too bad either!

Creativity is always at the forefront, look at how they transformed those trailers into a coffee shop that benefits their lovers.
Thank goodness there are people who do not stay at home and dare to enjoy the changing weather.

This sounds like such a peaceful and charming stop! I like the uniqueness of the "Bounding Hare.” I haven't seen a café in a converted horsebox. The views must have been amazing out on the moors, and it's great to hear the coffee and food were surprisingly good too. I really hope the weather stays kind and more people get to enjoy this lovely little spot. Thanks for sharing your relaxing countryside coffee moment!

Thank you. I'm just glad there wasn't a horse in there. 😄
