Bottom Moor Wood: A Derelict Farm, Trumpet Lichen, and the Colours of Autumn

The rain has finally stopped so I took a walk in Bottom Moor wood. It's a good wide path at the beginning so hopefully I can keep my feet relatively dry. Famous last words!

Even though the autumn colours looked lovely the lighting wasn't very good today.

Unfortunately, once I was off the wide path and I entered the wood it became wet and muddy.

At this point I had to walk under the shrubs into the darkness and out the other end.

There is an old derelict building in the wooded area. It might have been a farm at one point. It's sad that these buildings are left to go to ruin. I could easily live here.

This area including the old building, trees and stonewall are all covered in lovely green moss.

Along the bottom it became more boggy. I came to a part of the footpath that was totally under water. Even though I had my walking boots on they're not completely waterproof and this water looked quite deep. I managed to navigate around it but still got wet feet. Oh well ...

Once through the "puddle" it wasn't too bad.

I stumbled across a batch of trumpet lichen on the tree. They looked quite cute. They made up for the lack of fungi.

The walk took only about an hour but seemed longer. The muddy areas always take it out of you. It was good to get home and get out of my wet socks!

I love to walk in woods and nature this seems a wonderful path for a weekend relaxing walk. 😍😍
There's nothing better. Although, I didn’t like the wet feet. 😄
