Barnacle Goose, Coots, Blue Damselflies and Hawk Moths ...
I popped down to the village lido as I'd heard that there was a barnacle goose crossed with a Canada goose down there.
I went over to the far side of the lido as this is where the Canada geese tend to hang out. It wasn't long before I spotted the goose with the white patch on top of its head. It was smaller than the regular geese.
I also spotted some coots and their young. There were two sets of chicks. One set wasn’t very old at all. The others were more grown up. It was good to see some of the chicks were nearly full grown as the massive pike in the lido usually take them.
One of the older coots was playing with a lily. It eventually scrambled on to the lily like it was a lilo.
I've been watching the coot parents feed their chicks the past few weeks. Today, it was different. It looks like the parents think the chicks can fend for themselves. If the chicks started to hassle them for food they got a quick peck on the back instead!
I then spotted two common blue damselflies resting on the water. It wasn't until I uploaded the photo that I realised one was resting on a feather.
On my way back home I spotted a couple of hawk moths getting it on ...
Damsels on a feather and moths getting it on. 🫣😃😍
I think it's best if I stop in. 🤣
