A Woodland Walk: My Latest Geocaching Adventure
I decided to go for a walk to find a geocache this morning. I started off walking down the side of the field. As usual, I was 20 minutes into my walk when it started to rain. No point in going back as I couldn't get any wetter.
Last week it was quite windy and a few branches had fallen down. I usually keep out of the woods when it's like that.
The sunflowers looked a bit battered with the rain. On a leaf, there was a little ladybird hiding from the rain.
I really like the changing colours of autumn especially when it's been raining and overcast, the colours really pop.
My geocache app was showing me I was on the right track. Unfortunately, in a wooded area the coordinates can be off because of the poor signal. When you get within about 10 metres of the geocache your phone will vibrate to let you know you are near to it. I arrived at the spot. The hint was 'this is not in or on the gate, look by the trees! I focused on the trees and something caught my eye. Can you see it?
Lying between the trunks of the trees was a tiny plastic cache. You should take the piece of paper out of the tube and sign and date it when you find it.
Unfortunately, it was raining hard at this point and I didn't want to get the paper wet and spoil it for other finders. I will return on a drier day and sign it.
After entering my geocache find on the app I continued my way through the wood.
I went off the beaten track but I soon got to the top of the wood and into the field back home, totally wet through.
Ahh I love Geocaching!! Its so much fun and brings so a different dynamic to walks. Happy Caching and great photos 💚
Thank you! It definitely gets you out. 🙂
