A Washlands Wander

It was a lovely fine day today as I took my morning walk. I had the place to myself. It looked as though everyone was at work. There was definitely a nip in the air, though.

The nature reserve is looked after by volunteers. They are very skilled but anyone who is inexperienced can also help out. I pick the litter up on the way around.

It is quite peaceful here apart from the odd train flying past. Unfortunately, at the other side there is a housing development. We definitely need more houses but my village has had its fair share over the past few years. It wouldn't be so bad if they built some affordable or social housing, but as long as the builders build a couple on each housing development, it seems to satisfy the local council. Rant over!

I really like the look of the red hawthorn berries with the yellow lichen on its branches.

The man made pond was quite calm. Usually, it's blowing a hooley down here in the winter. Last month, I couldn’t use the wooden board walk as it was completely flooded after so much rain. I'm sure the ducks loved it, though.

I made my way up the wooden steps. From here, it looks like the stairway to heaven.

And to wrap my walk up, a nice little wooden sculpture at the end.
