A Walk through Padley Gorge: Waterfalls, Gnarly Trees, a Money Tree and Lost Property!

We visited Padley Gorge this morning with its lovely streams and waterfalls in the woodland with its gnarled creepy arsed trees. Padley Gorge is a photographer's dream as it is very photogenic with lots of walks to choose from. We parked up at a place called Grindleford Station and walked up through Upper Padley.

The first interesting thing we noticed was the 'money tree'. People place coins in dead trees or tree stumps. It is supposed to bring you good luck. I think this is a relatively new one. There is another one on the other side of the gorge.

There was an added bonus of seeing a couple of ladybirds on the tree stump.

Burbage Brook looked quite angry as it flowed through the gorge.

After a walk along the brook we made our way up the stone steps into the heart of the wood.

While walking through the wood you do come across a lot of lost property, usually hats, scarves and gloves. Finders place them in sight hoping they get reunited with their owners.

The climb up the stone steps really takes it out of your legs but once at the top, it was a nice flat walk through the gnarled trees.

Near to the end of our walk we spotted a twisted tree branch. It looks like a vine has wrapped itself around the branch leaving it twisted. People make walking sticks out of the twisted branches. Nature is wonderful.

OMG! That's beauty of nature! 😍
