A Walk Around the Village after 24 Hours of Rain

It's rained for about 24 hours nonstop. I was beginning to think I needed to build a canoe if it carried on. Thankfully, it had stopped this morning but from what I'd read there had been some local flooding. I didn't go far for my walk, just around the village ponds and the lido. The weeping willow looked really attractive over the pond. Sadly, one was partly blown over due to high winds so it had to be chopped down.

Two swans and their 3 cygnets were on the other side of the pond. The cygnets are practising flapping their wings so it won't be long before they learn to fly. That is where the fun will start as the parents, especially the male will chase them off the pond to fend for themselves. It's nature but it must be very confusing for the cygnets.

Down at the lido, I think in the past the bark from the silver birch trees has been used as bandages and I can understand why. Their trunk does look as though they are swathed in white bandages.

It was a little slippy here so I had to be careful.

The fallen leaves looked really pretty on the angler's platform. They can be lethal underfoot, though.

After walking around the lido, I had a quick walk around the roads before the rain came again. The firethorn bushes are still full of clusters of red berries due to a really good summer.
