A Stroll Around Kenning Park

I recently visited Kenning Park after some time away, hoping to see if any cygnets had hatched. It has been a little overcast today but we've had a good spell of warm weather, so I can't complain. It is the perfect walking weather, though.

During my visit, the male swan was actively chasing away Canada geese, a common scenario at ponds and lakes this time of year.

This is why the male swan is in protective mode as I spotted the female swan on her nest on the other side of the lake.

I followed the footpath through the park until I got to the hole in the stone wall. It is like you are entering a secret garden. The entrance led to another footpath lined with cow parsley along its edges.

Further along, there was also a lovely tree tunnel where the branches of the trees on either side touched one another.

I decided to double back over the iron bridge that took me back into the park

I passed a park bench that was adorned with sunflowers in commemoration of a village resident.

Unfortunately, I bumped into someone that told me I was a week too early to see the cygnets. The female swan incubates her eggs for about 5 to 6 weeks and she's only on week 4. I will hopefully make a return visit.

I hope you could visit there again to see the cygnets.
