A New Adventure

I thought I knew all the walks in my village, however, when driving around, I have spotted a few more public footpath signs, so I decided to investigate. It was slightly misty as I set off, but it quickly cleared. One thing I have discovered is that what is a short car ride away is a lot longer on foot! The sheep in the field managed to escape onto the road this morning. One of my friends managed to get them back into the field again. Unfortunately, sheep are great escape artists and they escaped again. The farmer came down in the end to get them back into the field.

As I walked up to the country lane I had to be careful because some car drivers come around the corner so fast. I finally arrived at the stone pillars at the top of the hill. Someone told me they are Grade II listed 18th century gateposts.

I quickly realised it wasn't the best idea in winter for a new adventure. The first field I entered was a cows' field. The ground was all churned up and very muddy. I persevered though.

I've lived in the village for years but this is the first time I've seen these fields, houses and outbuildings.

I love coming across gates, with moss on the stonewall and brown fern.

There were quite a few gates and stiles to go through or climb over. A golden labrador with its owner came bounding through the gate and splattered me with mud.
After following the footpath, I was back through the gate and back on the road on which I had started. It was getting a little overcast, so it was time to go home.

Thank you. 🙏
