A Nature Walk with Butterflies and Bees
I cannot believe we are still having such sunny weather and, in typical British style, everyone is now wishing for rain to come so it can water their gardens! Anyway, before their wish became true, I went off in search of butterflies down at the local nature reserve.
It is the best place to see a diverse species of wildlife, but sadly I didn't see many butterflues apart from the usual speckled wood butterflies.
It was good to see a few bees going from flower to flower on the red campion plant. This plant is mainly seen as a weed and can be found in fields and people's gardens. Weed or not, it looks very pretty.
I like this straight stretch of the walk as you literally walk through a tunnel of trees.
In the next field, it was really pretty with the lush green grass and the white cow parsley.
The yellow cowslips also looked good in the adjacent field which will be loved by the bees and other insects.
I was doing a circular walk but I decided to slightly change direction and walk over the railway bridge. Sadly, this is a place where people have taken their own lives by jumping onto the railway tracks. The metal sheets have been installed as a deterrent.
The oxeye daisy is another common wildflower with its large, white petals with a yellow centre.
As I climbed up the wooden steps, I spotted a little snail on the handrail. I took a photo and left it in peace.
At the end of my walk, someone had created some flower art and placed it on a stone. I enjoy walking around the nature reserves as they are so good for local wildlife and it's an added bonus to see some random art.
Must have been a lovely walk. However, those flowers left there to die was not nice :(
You are dry because all the rain is either here in New England or the northwest corner of the US...
Lovely photos!
Thank you! We've finally had rain overnight. First time in months, which is very rare in the UK!
