A Muddy Boot Stomp in the Wood

I haven't been to this wood for a while. As it was raining, I wanted to go for a walk, but have some kind of shelter as well. I parked up and walked along the footpath at the top of the wood.

I didn't fancy going over the fields, so I walked downwards on a footpath I'd only been down once before.

The more I got into the wood, the danker and darker it became.

Sometimes it's good to stop and turn around to see the scene behind you... unless you are being followed by Michael Myers, of course!

This way ... obviously!

I came across a tree that had fallen over the footpath. I could tell a lot of people walk in this particular wood as they'd trampled down a makeshift footpath to the right of the tree. Thankfully, I didn't have to climb over it or scramble underneath it.

This was as far as I was going. I could have walked up the better footpath at the side of the field, but I would have had to walk further down to access the stile. I didn't fancy going any further down, so I just walked up the side of the wood instead.

Oh, to be a child again. I was tempted to have a swing on the tyre, but knowing me, I'd get stuck somehow.

Back to the beginning of my walk.

This view is from the road at the end of my walk. The sun had finally come out.

Driving back home, I always like to see this old barn in autumn. It's not just because of the colourful leaves but I like the rusty corrugated iron as well.
