A Mooch Around Town and the Mystery of the Lost Shoe

Looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, all we are getting is rain, rain, and more rain. I needed a few birthday presents, so I popped into my local town. It was quite early in the morning, so there weren't a lot of people about. As there's not much in town to get people to shop there these days, there aren’t many shoppers out anyway. Parts of the town are quite distinctive with the black and white mock Tudor buildings (or Tudor Revival). They were built in the 1920s and 1930s as a homage to earlier previous styles.

St Mary's Church is commonly called the Crooked Spire for obvious reasons, as it is twisted. Depending on which story you believe, there are a few theories such as the use of unseasoned wood, unskilled labour, or perhaps the use of heavy lead sheeting.

I popped into Costa to get a voucher for someone. I was tempted to stop for a coffee, but I was wet through and didn't feel like sitting in wet clothes. (No, this isn't me with the shopping trolley)!

I'm sure there is a good story behind the lost shoe! Did it drop out of someone's sports bag leaving the gym or were they drunk and it somehow got left behind?

I popped into the shopping precinct and walked over the bridge that leads to the car park. An interesting (or perhaps useless) piece of information, depending on your viewpoint, is that the bridge was officially opened back in 1981 by Prince Charles and Princess Diana. It looked quite dismal from above. Time to go home.
