My favourite part: Adding stone to a cloth

Hello everyone, trust you have been good with your various skills

Earlier today, a customer came with her lace, an elderly woman to be precise, it's a top called buba mostly worn by Yoruba elderly women, middle aged women wear it too. Even youngsters are not left behind, they sew buba with a short wrapper (oleku) shorter than the one worn by older women. So she brought it that the stone on it is not enough, that we should add more stones to all the cloth. Many women prefer clothes that are designed with shiny stones which changes the appearance of the outfit, making it look expensive and shows the pattern of the cloth.

It's a lace material, we started adding the stone one by one, we didn't make use of the stoning board, a lot of people like stones on their fabric, it makes it glitter, it has now become a trend, most big madam clothes having it fixed on a "dull face or apoche (velvet)" infact some even use it as a competition, they compare how numerous the stones on their friends cloth are and want to add to theirs as well. Sometimes it looked stressful but fun at the same time, when I haven't known my way around it I was reluctant in doing it but now I find it interesting.

The first day I saw a neighbour who is a fashion designer stoning a cloth, I was so eager to learn it and I stood there all through, after arranging the stone, she didn't have a stoning machine, so she said she would use her electric iron, in my mind I was already making a wish to have all my necessary machines to make my work easier.

This customer bringing her cloth, was another opportunity for me to learn more, we were two that did it, the neck was the first we arranged the stones on,the stoning machine was put on,when it was hot we closed it, making sure we regulate it so it won't burn the cloth then we moved to the sleeve and started putting it on the other parts of the cloth.

You have done a great job decorating the fabric with glitter beads, the purple color looks great with the glitter.
