Lo importante es no dejar de volar/ The important thing is not to stop flying

Es mi primera vez en el concurso Observa, piensa y escribe, https://ecency.com/hive-192096/@lanzjoseg/concurso-observa-piensa-escribe-ab958160b9a9e pero la imagen de esta semana era sencillamente imposible de ignorar.

Estéticamente, impacta la maravillosa sorpresa de color entre tanto gris de cielo y palma. Aunque para hacerle justicia debo reconocer que ese guacamayo es mucho más que unas plumas bonitas.

Es un héroe de su propio destino, valiente, adaptable, pragmático y resolutivo, digno de admirar e imitar. Permítanme compartirles el por qué de mi entusiasta defensa.

El guacamayo arara se especializa en largos y elegantes vuelos horizontales. Su dieta diaria compuesta por semillas, frutos e insectos lo lleva a cubrir grandes extensiones de terreno deslizándose entre los árboles y a veces incluso descendiendo a tierra, esos son sus comederos habituales.

Sin embargo, no es casualidad, ni elección caprichosa de estas hermosas aves el anidar en lo alto de los árboles, consumiendo fuerzas en un vuelo vertical de entre 10 y hasta 40 metros ida y vuelta una y otra vez teniendo tantas frondosas ramas bajas, llenas de alimento donde construir un nido.

Sucede que a tan escasa altura sus huevos y pichones están en constante riesgo de servir como presa de felinos, serpientes, aves de rapiña y un depredador aún peor: el hombre. Esa es la disposición de la naturaleza, el ciclo vital, las cartas que le tocó jugar, en buen cubano "eso es lo que hay"

El ser humano moderno, con todos sus recursos materiales y emocionales, presentaría una demanda, exigiría igualdad de oportunidades, se refugiaría en la depresión y la autocompasión o, peor aún, tomaría acciones para borrar de la faz de la tierra aquello que lo estorba, aunque con de paso también destruya lo que le da vida.

El guacamayo, en cambio, elige la paz, la creatividad y proactividad, se adapta, aprende un nuevo estilo de vuelo, y garantiza mayor esperanza de vida para toda una especie: toma a su pequeña prole, y le construye un penthouse con privilegiadas vistas panorámicas.

Desde semejante monumento a la resiliencia escudriña los alrededores para detectar potenciales amenazas o alimento. Cría y enseña a volar a sus pichones y quizás hasta disfruta del cercano cielo estrellado en románticas veladas con su pareja.

Es más, en su maravilloso proceso de adaptabilidad aún encuentra tiempo para mejorar su entorno, ese mismo que estaba dispuesto a destruirle.

Es muy posible que en el tronco seco de esa palma gris, un día germinen semillas olvidadas y una cascada de lianas de coral caiga desde lo alto para proveer alimento, refugio y hermosura.

A nosotros nos regala una increíble imagen de exotismo y belleza natural, al mismo tiempo que una invaluable lección de vida.

Tenía razón o no cuando dije que era digno de imitar?

Aesthetically, the wonderful surprise of color amidst so much gray sky and palm is striking. Although to do it justice, I must acknowledge that this macaw is much more than just beautiful feathers.

It is a hero of its own destiny—brave, adaptable, pragmatic, and resourceful—worthy of admiration and imitation. Allow me to share why I enthusiastically defend it.

The ara macaw specializes in long and elegant horizontal flights. Its daily diet consists of seeds, fruits, and insects, allowing it to cover large areas of land gliding between trees and sometimes even descending to the ground; these are its usual feeding spots.

However, it is not by chance or whimsical choice that these beautiful birds nest high in the trees, expending energy on a vertical flight of between 10 and 40 meters back and forth time and time again when there are so many leafy low branches full of food where they could build a nest.

The fact is that at such a low height, their eggs and chicks are constantly at risk of becoming prey for felines, snakes, birds of prey, and an even worse predator: humans. That is the disposition of nature, the cycle of life—the cards they were dealt; in good Cuban terms, "that's how it is."

The modern human, with all their material and emotional resources, would demand equality of opportunities; they would wallow in depression and self-pity or worse yet, take actions to erase from the face of the earth whatever hinders them—even if it also destroys what gives them life.

The macaw, on the other hand, chooses peace, creativity, and proactivity. It adapts, learns a new style of flight, and ensures a greater lifespan for an entire species: it takes its little offspring and builds them a penthouse with privileged panoramic views.

From such a monument to resilience, it scrutinizes its surroundings to detect potential threats or food. It raises and teaches its chicks to fly and perhaps even enjoys the nearby starry sky in romantic evenings with its partner.

Moreover, in its wonderful process of adaptability, it still finds time to improve its environment—the very one that was ready to destroy it.

It is very possible that in the dry trunk of that gray palm tree, forgotten seeds will one day germinate, and a cascade of coral vines will fall from above to provide food, shelter, and beauty.

It gifts us an incredible image of exoticism and natural beauty while imparting an invaluable lesson about life.

Was I right or not when I said it was worthy of imitation?
