My New Friends

For me, I would say 2024 was a hell of a rollercoaster year, it came with its good, and bad, happiness, sadness, excitement, moods, ups and downs, challenges, situations, breakthroughs, favours, friendships, and most especially loss. I guess we all know that everything that has a beginning surely does have an end and all around, the years are always filled with all these attributes and of course, that is what makes it life and keeps us on our toes. I had my share of experiences, still grateful for life.

In the year 2024, I not only made friends, I lost friends and I also reacquainted with a few friends whom I stopped talking to, not because I wanted them back as friends but because we weren't enemies from the onset, then, such friendship isn't a close one but from a distance but then, I would prefer that, because of the persons involved.

I made a mental note to go out more in 2024, make friends, and most especially connect with people as much as I can, I also remember making a mental note to make every minute of my time on my social media space count by following people who I could rub heads with, people whose post motivates and encouraged me, people who have gone through life and are willing to let their experiences, past and mistakes help or encourage others, also people especially ladies who can motivate me and make and help me see the world and life from my glasses.

Luckily, the algorithm especially on Facebook brought those set of people my way helping me fulfill my plans while I read and engaged with their posts, and stories also, but unfortunately, I could not achieve the other dream of going out and connecting with people as much as I can due to the high cost of fuel and the increase in transportation.

Good for me, the few times I could go out, I made few friends, most were friends on Facebook and we were able to finally see each real life even though we lived in the same city, but regardless I made a few friends lower than I had planned.

So, yeah the few friends I made were friends of the same minds, friends of the same community (natural hair gangs) I have been a naturalist for seven years now and I am always intrigued when I see people whose hair is looking not just healthy but fuller and longer than mine and for someone who wants to know and learn more, I try as much as possible to reach out to them on the same level to understand what their routine and every other thing they do look like.

I always feel proud of myself especially when I realize that what they tell me isn't far-fetched from what I have learned, regardless, I still pay close attention to what they have to say and pick a few points different from mine.

Although most of these friends are more online than offline, more of those who are into natural hair and all that comes with it, people I can learn from and they can as well, people we have something in common which is our hair and learning more about it.

So, yeah, I know they are more online but I think it was worth the stress and it was better than not making friends for the year also, I am glad I encountered them because I have learnt a whole lot and beginning to see another level of my natural hair.
