The Botanical Garden in Basel

Hello everyone, I hope you had a pleasant start to the new week and otherwise you are also doing well! I have decided to share an experience with you which I have made in Basel and I am happy when you can learn new things.

I love to discover botanical gardens and also during my time in Basel, I decided to repeat this experience and even if it was rainy that day the restrictions were not too great because a large part takes place in the greenhouses. The garden is part of the University of Basel and not far located from other historical sights of the city, which is why it can be worthwhile in any case to visit the whole area and to combine more sights with each other. Even if it may not be as hectic in Basel as in other large cities, it can be quite advantageous to visit a green retreat for which botanical gardens are particularly well suited and these places offer the perfect place of rest in addition to the varied flora. It's one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world whose origins date back to the 16th century, but the garden was still at a different location at the beginning and only a few centuries later was it decided to change the location.

The garden combines a large outdoor complex as well as some greenhouses with each other and in all there are over 7000 different types of plants from all over the world to admire and the entrance here is even free but visitors are of course always open to leave a donation here. Distributed on the site I have always seen some boxes in which donations can be thrown which is an important basis to support research or care and I would like to motivate in any case to leave a small donation there to support the work. In addition to the plants, fish or one or the other reptile can be seen here and regardless of the season, the garden can pretty much always be visited and it's recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about nature or is just looking for a place of relaxation and every visitor from Basel should not miss the opportunity to visit this historical place.

Wow, what a beautiful experience!
It is amazing that you visited the botanical garden even on a rainy day. The photos are really nice, and it looks like such a peaceful place to explore. I didn’t know that the garden in Basel is one of the oldest in the world.

I could also enjoy the garden because I had an umbrella with me. As you said, it was a unique experience for me!

What a beautiful botanical garden. I love places like that, usually so quiet and relaxing. I see you like the cacti quite a bit, that one with the fine white needles is pretty. You took some great shots, very well done.

This photo is beautiful. Free admission will likely allow many people to enjoy this beautiful place and motivated by such beauty, leave donations for its preservation.

I wish you a happy start to the week.

The truth is that it is an excellent place where we can de-stress and also learn much more about nature as well as its varieties of both plants and animals and another aspect that makes it very interesting is that we can visit it any time of the year.
