[En-Es] A damselflie with purple eyes

Hello friends.

Hola amigos.

I've seen many dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata), but I don't remember ever seeing one with violet eyes before.

He visto muchas libélulas y caballitos del diablo (odonata), pero no recuerdo haber visto antes uno con ojos color violeta.

I found one like that months ago in the garden and it seemed to be resting or sunbathing on the remains of a leaf.

Encontré uno así hace meses en el jardín y parecía estar descansando o tomando baños de sol sobre los restos de una hoja.

It also had burgundy to fuchsia lines on its chest and metallic blue-green color on its abdomen.

También tenía lineas de color rojo vinotinto a fucsia en el tórax y color verde-azul metalizado en el abdomen.

It could be an "Argia fumipennis", a dragonfly of the Coenagrionidae family (narrow-winged damselfly) native to the United States that may have traveled here lost.

Podría ser una "Argia fumipennis", odonato de la familia Coenagrionidae (caballito de alas estrechas) habitante de Estados Unidos que pudo viajar extraviada hacia acá.

Damselflies (suborder Zygoptera) differ from dragonflies in that they fold their wings to the sides of their bodies. They also have separate eyes and are smaller and thinner.

Los caballitos del diablo (suborden zigoptera) difieren de las libélulas en que pliegan sus alas a los lados del cuerpo. Tienen además ojos separados, son más pequeñas y delgadas.

I was fascinated by the delicacy and colors of this beautiful insect. I hope you like it too.
