Life ends up becoming a routine. Every day we wake up at practically the same time: some go to school or college, others to work, and there are still those who do both or even more. This daily repetition tires us out, causing many people to count down the days until the holidays and their long-awaited vacations as an escape valve.

During the vacations, the desire is to get out of the routine whether it's simply staying at home to rest, traveling to see new places, or visiting relatives we haven't seen for a long time. Vacations are there to make us forget, even temporarily, the exhausting pace of everyday life, whether at work or in our studies.

On my last vacation, in January, I confess that I hardly rested. I spent almost the entire time involved in a construction project at home. It was exhausting, so much so that I returned to work more exhausted than when I left. But, in the end, it was worth it to see everything finished.

I haven't set a date for my next vacation yet, but it will probably be early next year. I'm planning a trip of at least a week to some coastal destination I haven't yet visited. Everything suggests it will be in Bahia, where I want to visit places like Porto Seguro and Itacaré. I'm also thinking of alternatives in Alagoas, such as Maceió and Maragogi.

My greatest wish is to spend at least a week getting to know a coastal city. I haven't been on a longer trip in a while, I've been so focused on work and studies that time has simply flown by. As they say, life is one and time waits for no one: it passes like a bullet train.

My wife has been urging me to go out more, but with so many pending issues, especially because of the master's degree I'm doing, I end up feeling guilty about going out. My head feels heavy, thinking that I should be studying or getting on with something. At the end of the day, when we're torn between two feelings, we can't do anything well - especially us men, who have a hard time doing many tasks at the same time.

In the middle of the year, I intend to start planning everything: hotel reservations, tickets and other details. As it's just me and my wife, the costs aren't as high as if you have children and need to take the whole family. I have work colleagues with children who always complain about the high costs of family trips.

In fact, one of these colleagues traveled during the same period that I took my vacation and, to this day, complains about the costs. The situation was so complicated that he even set up an online kitty to try and pay off the debts he had accumulated - which ended up exceeding his income.

Despite everything, I'm of the opinion that traveling is not an expense, but an investment. Traveling renews the soul, cleanses the body and makes us feel lighter. To travel is to live, because we collect unforgettable memories with those we love.

A vida acaba virando uma rotina. Todos os dias acordamos praticamente no mesmo horário: uns vão para a escola ou faculdade, outros para o trabalho, e há ainda quem encare os dois – ou até mais atividades. Essa repetição diária cansa, fazendo com que muitas pessoas fiquem na contagem regressiva pelos feriados e pelas tão sonhadas férias, como uma válvula de escape.

Durante as férias, o desejo é sair da rotina, seja simplesmente ficando em casa para descansar, viajando para conhecer novos lugares, ou visitando familiares que há muito tempo não vemos. As férias existem para nos fazer esquecer, ainda que temporariamente, o ritmo exaustivo do dia a dia, seja no trabalho ou nos estudos.

Nas minhas últimas férias, em janeiro, confesso que mal descansei. Passei quase todo o tempo envolvido com uma obra em casa. Foi cansativo, tanto que voltei ao trabalho mais exausto do que quando saí. Mas, no fim, valeu a pena ver tudo pronto.

Ainda não tenho data marcada para as próximas férias, mas provavelmente serão no início do próximo ano. Estou planejando uma viagem de pelo menos uma semana para algum destino litorâneo que ainda não conheço. Tudo indica que será na Bahia, onde quero visitar lugares como Porto Seguro e Itacaré. Também penso em alternativas em Alagoas, como Maceió e Maragogi.

O meu maior desejo é passar ao menos uma semana conhecendo uma cidade litorânea. Faz tempo que não faço uma viagem mais longa, tenho focado tanto no trabalho e nos estudos que o tempo tem simplesmente voado. Como dizem por aí, a vida é uma só e o tempo não espera ninguém: passa como um trem-bala.

Minha esposa tem me cobrado bastante para sairmos mais, mas com tantas pendências, especialmente por conta do mestrado que estou fazendo, acabo me sentindo culpado ao sair. Fico com a cabeça pesada, pensando que deveria estar estudando ou adiantando alguma atividade. No fim das contas, quando estamos divididos entre dois sentimentos, não conseguimos fazer nada bem, especialmente nós, homens, que já temos dificuldade em realizar muitas tarefas ao mesmo tempo.

No meio do ano, pretendo começar a planejar tudo: reserva de hotel, passagens e outros detalhes. Como somos só eu e minha esposa, os custos não são tão altos quanto para quem tem filhos e precisa levar a família inteira. Tenho colegas de trabalho com filhos que sempre reclamam dos altos custos das viagens em família.

Inclusive, um desses colegas viajou no mesmo período que eu tirei férias e, até hoje, reclama dos gastos. A situação foi tão complicada que ele até criou uma vaquinha online para tentar pagar as dívidas acumuladas, que acabaram ultrapassando a renda dele.

Apesar de tudo, sou da opinião de que viajar não é um gasto, mas sim um investimento. Viajar renova a alma, lava o corpo e nos deixa mais leves. Viajar é viver, porque colecionamos memórias inesquecíveis ao lado de quem amamos.
