Long bean and the previous shallot harvest

it has been quite sometime since the last time I made a post about my farm, I still can't be that consistent in takign videos or photos in my farm. as mostly whenever I arrive at the farm, I directly do things that I need to do, then I forget completely to take photo and remember it again when it is time for me to go home.

here are actually some random photos that I have in my gallery that I want to share with all of you now related to my farm, and the other reason is that I am running out of macro photos as well. hahah

At the moment, in the farm I have long bean, chilli and corn. The long bean is a new plant that I have which I planted a week after I harvest the shallot in the previous farming update that I made.

The photo below was when the longbean about 6 days after planting, and it looking nice and healty as well. As I said that the place where I planted the long bean, was the place where I used to plant my shallot. I didn't do any soil treatment, I just spray with herbicide, and then plant the seedling. Hopefully things will be ok, since now I am a little bit worried with the exccesive rain that falling almost everyday. which is not really good for the plant.

Now here are the photo from the previous shallot harvest. The result were ok, much better than my first shallot season, although there are still a lot of things that I can improve in the future.

I mean, I can harvest most of the shallot, without much fungal infestation that was haunted my first season. and because I planted them in the early rainy season, so that the worm or catterpillar attack is not that much.

A few notes that I need to improve on my next season is to make them grow bigger, so that the shallot will be bigger, thus affecting the overall harvest weight. the other thing I have to consider is the way to treat the harvest. although this method -hang them to dry- is still ok, but maybe I need to try other method which wil make my work easier int he future. the harvest was not great, but a progress that I need to rejoice as well.

Nice harvest! Increased efficiency is always a good thing, anything to speed things up will be good. Also smart to plant early to avoid fungus and avoid caterpillars. Those pesky things can ruin great crops. I love shallots personally, what a great thing to grow! Let's see how big you can get them for the next crop!
