Today I thought, "I want to do something disproportionate, a head with strange proportions," so I started sketching without much thought, just with that idea. Then I moved to the neck and consequently the torso, which led me to this initial sketch where I didn't want to define too much, because I regularly get frustrated when I rush myself.

Hoy pensé, quiero hacer algo desproporcionado, una cabeza con proporciones raras, así que empecé a bocetear sin buscar mucho en ello, solamente con esa idea. Luego fui con el cuello y por consiguiente el torso, así que di con este boceto inicial donde no quise definir mucho debido a que regularmente me frustro cuando apuro mis tiempos.

After that, I did try to start a lineart that worked with the initial sketch, but without seeing the initial sketch as an exact guide. It often happens to me that I limit myself too much with the sketch by getting ahead of what the image is asking of me, so I'm trying to practice a way that makes me flow better with the drawing. That's how I started to get this kind of goblin or small orc.

Luego de ello sí busqué empezar a hacer un lineart que funcionara con el boceto inicial pero sin ver el boceto inicial como una guía exacta. Me pasa a seguido que me limito mucho con el boceto por adelantarme a lo que la imagen me está pidiendo, así que estoy tratando de practicar una forma que me haga fluir mejor con el dibujo. Así que empecé ya a obtener esta especie de goblin u orco pequeño.

Then I moved on to deepening the shadows and starting to work with the highlights, and that's how I ended up with this aborigine who is half-goblin but is neither exactly one thing nor the other. Something that happens to me with drawing, and I think to many others too, is that I start to imagine what the life of this character is like. Specifically, this one seems like an aborigine from hot, desert plains.

Ya luego pasé a profundizar más las sombras y empezar a trabajar con los brillos y es así como terminé dando con este aborigen que es medio goblin pero que no es exactamente ni una cosa ni la otra, algo que me pasa con el dibujo y creo que a muchos también es que empiezo a imaginar cómo es la vida de este personaje. Específicamente, este me parece como un aborigen de llanuras desérticas y calurosas.

I decided to leave the arm as it is because, honestly, I think the composition works without adding that arm. I would still like to complete it, but I love what happens with things that seem unfinished, and that arm is there. We can all imagine what it's like, and that's enough for me. Little by little, I feel like I'm better defining my stroke and how to express myself.

El brazo decidí dejarlo así porque la verdad me parece que la composición funciona sin agregar ese brazo. Igual me gustaría completarlo, pero eso que pasa con las cosas que parecen inacabadas me encanta y ese brazo está allí. Todos podemos imaginar cómo es y eso es suficiente para mí. Poco a poco siento que voy definiendo mejor mi trazo y cómo expresarme.
