Hace unos días estuve de cumpleaños. Sí, exactamente el pasado sábado 29 de marzo y fueron los 41 aniversarios y aún me siento de 25. Claro, si no me toca realizar ninguna labor que requiera de la fuerza de mi espalda ja ja ja. Este año no arrancó para mi familia del todo bien dado que a mi madre le diagnosticaron cáncer en los senos y sinceramente no me sentía del todo bien para celebrar y menos ahora que estamos en unas semanas algo fuertes ya que debe ser operada dentro de 14 días. Estamos en un momento decisivo para mi madre para estar celebrando con fiesta. Quise celebrar estos 41 años de una manera especial y nostálgica. Así es, pasé gran parte del día jugando Super Mario World, uno de mis videojuegos favoritos de la infancia, junto a mi hija Luna.

AA few days ago I had a birthday. Yes, exactly last Saturday March 29th and it was my 41st birthday and I still feel 25. Of course, if I don't have to do any work that requires the strength of my back ha ha ha. This year did not start off well for my family because my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and honestly I did not feel well enough to celebrate and even less so now that we are in a few weeks a little strong because she has to be operated in 14 days. We are in a decisive moment for my mother to be celebrating with a party. I wanted to celebrate these 41 years in a special and nostalgic way. That's right, I spent most of the day playing Super Mario World, one of my favorite childhood video games, with my daughter Luna.

Déjenme decirles que desde el momento en que encendí la consola, se alzaron unas olas de emociones que hizo que ese día fuera inolvidable. Tanto a mí como a Luna los ojos se nos pusieron grandísimos. Les cuento el porqué. En algunos post anteriores hablé de que aprendí a descargar mis propios juegos para la Xbox 360 que tengo y como todo amante de los clásicos, me hice la pregunta ¿Puede haber un emulador de NES para la 360? Como sabemos, tenemos a Google para que nos responda esa pregunta. Y sí, hay muchos emuladores pero realmente no entendí el proceso de instalación y conseguí después de tantas pruebas el que tengo ahora que fue solo de instalar y empezar con la diversión. Fueron casi tres días para que se descargara y que el emulador me trae una gran lista de clásicos tanto de NEs como la Snes pero lo había logrado y conseguido lo que buscaba que era recordar buenos momentos con Super Mario World y Luna estaba tan ansiosa como yo de jugarlo. ¿Por qué no involucrar a mi hija en este día mágico conmigo?

Let me tell you that from the moment I turned on the console, waves of emotions rose up that made that day unforgettable. Both Luna and I got big eyes. Let me tell you why. In some previous posts I talked about how I learned to download my own games for the Xbox 360 I have and as every classic lover, I asked myself the question: Can there be a NES emulator for the 360? As we know, we have Google to answer that question for us. And yes, there are many emulators but I really didn't understand the installation process and I got after so many tests the one I have now that was just to install and start with the fun. It took almost three days to download and the emulator brings me a great list of classics from both NEs and Snes but I had succeeded and got what I was looking for which was to remember good times with Super Mario World and Luna was as eager as I was to play it. Why not involve my daughter in this magical day with me?

Para cualquier fanático de este popular fontanero es difícil encontrar una mejor época que la que vivimos en los 80 y 90 con los videojuegos. Recordemos algo, no existía Youtube por si te quedabas atrapado en algún mundo y no encontrabas la manera de salir y esto es solo un ejemplo de muchos. Para nosotros existían revistas que si no las tenías jamás entenderías el videojuego por completo. En esas revistas nos regalaban trucos para aprovechar el videojuego al máximo. En mi ciudad no es que hubiera muchas tiendas donde se consiguieran esas revistas, de hecho, solo hubo una y no se actualizaba mucho que digamos. Pero si habláramos del Mario Bros más aclamado sin duda nos concentraríamos en Super Mario Bros 3 y por supuesto, Super Mario World.

For any fan of this popular plumber is hard to find a better time than the one we lived in the 80's and 90's with video games. Let's remember something, there was no Youtube in case you got stuck in a world and could not find your way out and this is just one example of many. For us there were magazines that if you didn't have them you would never understand the video game completely. In those magazines they gave us tricks to get the most out of the game. In my city there weren't many stores where you could get those magazines, in fact, there was only one and it wasn't updated much. But if we were to talk about the most acclaimed Mario Bros, we would undoubtedly focus on Super Mario Bros 3 and of course, Super Mario World.

Para mí sin duda es Super Mario World un título que mejoró significativamente casi todos los aspectos del primer Mario Bro. Mucho más colorido, más power-ups, muchos más niveles, Jefes, el mapa del mundo, trucos y secretos. Sin duda que las mejoras gráficas y técnicas de los 16 bits logró catapultar este increíble personaje. El del Nintendo 64 también es bastante bueno y por supuesto con mucha más calidad de imagen pero en mi opinión, prefiero un millón de veces revivir mi niñez con Super Mario World.

For me Super Mario World is undoubtedly a title that significantly improved almost all aspects of the first Mario Bro. Much more colorful, more power-ups, many more levels, bosses, the world map, tricks and secrets. No doubt that the graphical and technical improvements of the 16 bits managed to catapult this incredible character. The Nintendo 64 is also quite good and of course with much better image quality but in my opinion, I prefer a million times to relive my childhood with Super Mario World.

Ver a mi hija divertirse disfrutar de una parte de mi infancia, me hizo pesar sobre el legado de los videojuegos y cómo logran conectan a diferentes generaciones. Una de las principales características de la Nintendo es que buscaba que las familias tuvieran un modo de divertirse y al mismo tiempo compartir y fueran tan meticuloso con todo que lograron su objetivo. Ese día logré crear junto a Luna recuerdos que atesorará para siempre. Al final del día, más que un simple juego, Super Mario World se convirtió es una linda conexión entre una y yo. Padre e hija celebrando un cumpleaños que no solo fue un día de celebración, sino una oportunidad para compartir momentos mágicos que, sin duda, recordaremos por muchos años.

Watching my daughter having fun enjoying a part of my childhood, made me think about the legacy of video games and how they manage to connect different generations. One of the main characteristics of Nintendo is that they wanted families to have a way to have fun and at the same time share and they were so meticulous with everything that they achieved their goal. That day I got to create memories with Luna that she will treasure forever. At the end of the day, more than just a game, Super Mario World became a beautiful connection between me and Luna. Father and daughter celebrating a birthday that was not only a day of celebration, but an opportunity to share magical moments that we will undoubtedly remember for many years to come.

La verdad es que he disfrutado ese día con Luna y estoy ansioso de que llegue el fin de semana para seguir disfrutando al lado de ella más aventuras en el Reino Champiñón...
