The Underground Network (3) : A Freewrite
One evening, as Ramses went to an underground get-together of network members, he sensed the extent of the schism within the organization. The confabulation was meant to debate the subsequent route of the network, and it quickly became apparent that there were two conflicting groups.
Ramses rose to address the assembled group, his tones sure and determined. "Before us lies a moment to revolutionise this link into something that not only helps our customers, but all of humanity. We can still be discreet in implementing activities in line with our beliefs."
His address provoked a reaction of both acceptance and disbelief. A few nodded in accord, while others derided his statements as simple-minded.
Amidst the vociferous discussion, Plato, who had been a mute spectator until then, voiced his opinion. "Ramses' idea is plausible. The global environment is evolving, and we must transit to stay prosperous. We can still be successful without partaking in criminal activities. We must move with the times."
A somber calm descended as Plato's words echoed throughout the room. All in attendance recognized the significance of the situation--the outcome of the gathering would dictate the fate of the collective. Ramses was acutely aware of the looming tension, for he understood the gravity of the matter.
As the discourse proceeded, Ramses felt an unsettling burden of accountability upon him. He had evolved significantly from the troubled individual who had implored Plato's aid. He had jeopardized everything to champion his beliefs, and he now found himself on the verge of transformation.
