I continue my odyssey towards the capital of Cairn in Grim Dawn. On the previous occasion I ended the game on this bridge after getting out of a dimensional scream created by the blood cult. After regaining strength, checking my inventory and getting rid of unnecessary weight, I continue my march towards the capital and whatever awaits me there.

Continúo mi odisea rumbo a la capital de Cairn en Grim Dawn. En la anterior ocasión terminé la partida en este puente luego de salir de una grita dimensional creada por el culto de sangre. Luego de reponer fuerzas, revisar mi inventario y deshacerme del peso innecesario, continúo mi marcha hacia la capital y lo que sea que me espere allá.

Along the way I realize that the landscape is becoming more and more desolate. I see no peasant farms, animals or fruit trees. Only in the distance I can see dry grass, infertile trees and many radioactive areas. All this I suppose is caused by the presence of the ethereals in the surroundings.

Por el camino me voy dando cuenta que el paisaje se torna cada vez más desolado. No veo granjas de campesinos, animales ni árboles frutales. Solo a lo lejos se puede apreciar hierba seca, árboles infértiles y muchísimas zonas radioactivas. Todo esto supongo que es causado por la presencia de los etéreos en los alrededores.

After crossing a small ridge I come to an area called the outskirts of Malmouth. I guess this was once the residential area surrounding the capital. Without wasting a minute I enter through a gate on one side of the fortified area.

Tras cruzar un pequeño risco llego a una zona llamada las afueras de Malmouth. Supongo que esto fuese una vez la zona residencial que rodeaba la capital. Sin perder un minuto me adentro por un portón que había en un lado de la zona fortificada.

Immediately, I am attacked by waves of enemies coming from inside the rubble. I eliminate them and continue on my way, but not before realizing that although the area is completely devastated, there are no bodies of people or animals.

Inmediatamente, soy atacado por olas de enemigos que salían desde dentro de los escombros. Los elimino y continuo mi camino, no sin antes darme cuenta de que a pesar de que la zona está completamente arrasada, no hay cuerpos de personas ni animales.

Arriving at the entrance to the capital city I realize that the bridge is up, so I thought about taking a tour, but it was useless. Luckily I found an entrance to the sewers, which in theory should lead me to the interior of the city.

Al llegar a la entrada de la ciudad capital me percato de que el puente se encuentra levantado, así que pensé en dar un recorrido, pero fue inútil. Por suerte encontré una entrada a las alcantarillas, las cuales en teoría deberían llevarme al interior de la ciudad.

Once inside the sewers I find more enemies on my way, so the chances of finding survivors down here are slim.

Una vez dentro de las alcantarillas voy encontrando más enemigos a mi paso, por lo que las posibilidades de encontrar supervivientes aquí abajo son escasas.

Halfway through my journey through the subways I found that the road was blocked, but very close to there I found a suspension bridge which was heavily guarded. Kindly, I tried to reason with them to pass, but apparently they only understand plummet and who am I to deny them.

A mitad de mi trayecto por los subterráneos me encuentro con que el camino estaba bloqueado, pero muy cerca de ahí encontré un puente colgadizo el cual estaba fuertemente custodiado. Amablemente, intenté razonar con ellos para pasar, pero al parecer solo entienden a plomazo y quién soy yo para negárselos.

When I had already gone through a long stretch of tunnels, I hear gunshots in the distance. I hurried my pace to see what was going on and to help someone if necessary. But to my surprise it was some resistance guards fighting with some monsters.

Cuando ya había recorrido un buen tramo de túneles, escucho a lo lejos unos disparos. Apuro mi paso para ver que sucede y auxiliar a alguien en caso de ser necesario. Pero para mi sorpresa eran unos guardias de la resistencia luchando con algunos monstruosos.

I approach them and after verifying that I am human they let me pass. Inside the shelter I chat with some survivors and the leader of the resistance. Thanks to this I can learn that they are all that is left. The cult of the possessed had taken over the capital and killed everyone who opposed them or did not try to escape. But what surprised me most was to learn that they made monsters out of the dead, so I had not come across any human or animal remains.

Me acerco a ellos y luego de comprobar que soy humano me dejan pasar. Dentro del refugio converso con algunos sobrevivientes y con el líder de la resistencia. Gracias a esto me puede enterar de que ellos son todo lo que queda. El culto de los poseídos se había apoderado de la capital y había asesinado a todos los que se les oponía o no intentaron escapar. Pero lo que más me sorprendió fue saber que con los muertos fabricaban monstruos, por lo cual no me había topado con restos humanos ni de animales.

Upon learning this, I told the leader of the resistance that he could count on me to eradicate the amansa. He sent me to go up to the surface and talk to a captain and his officers, who were the vanguard of the resistance. When I arrived before the captain he explained to me that they have a plan that consists of clearing the residential areas of the capital so that when they attack the capital they would not receive reinforcements. Then he told me that there is a place called the Infestation, which is the slaughterhouse and meat factory and that the enemy leader is hiding in that place. But in order to access that place, an air intake that was guarded by the enemy had to be sealed.

Al saber esto le comunico al líder de la resistencia que puede contar conmigo para erradicar la amansa. Él me mandó a subir a la superficie y hablar con un capitán y sus oficiales, los cuales eran la vanguardia de la resistencia. Al llegar ante el capitán me explica que tienen un plan que consiste en limpiar las zonas residenciales de la capital para que al atacar la capital no recibieran refuerzos. Luego me contó que hay un lugar llamado la Infestación, el cual es el matadero y fabrica de carne y que en ese lugar se oculta el líder enemigo. Pero para acceder a ese sitio había que sellar una toma de aire que estaba custodiada por el enemigo.

The first part of the plan was easy, as it consisted of going through the intricate areas of the map and killing the masses of enemies that I found. The part of the air intake was more difficult to find, as they were on the other side of the city and all the streets were obstructed.

La primera parte del plan fue fácil, pues consistía en recorrer las intrincadas zonas del mapa e ir asesinando a las masas de enemigos que me iba encontrando. Ya la parte de la toma de aire fue más difícil encontrarla, pues estaban al otro lado de la ciudad y todas las calles estaban obstruidas.

Luckily, the scouts of the vanguard of the resistance had created a system of passages through the balconies of the ruined houses that made it possible for me to move around the city without using the streets.

Por suerte, los exploradores de la vanguardia de la resistencia había creado un sistema de pasajes por los balcones de las casas en ruinas que me posibilitaban trasladarme por la ciudad sin hacer uso de las calles.

So it was that after a while of walking and going up and down stairs I could reach the air intake, which was a grotesque tower of flesh and human remains. After destroying it I received the news that I could advance towards the cathedral where I would meet the rest of the resistance for the last attack.

Así fue como luego de un rato caminando y de subir y bajar escaleras pude llegar a la toma de aire, la cual era una grotesca torre de carne y restos humanos. Luego de destruirla recibo la noticia de que ya puedo avanzar hacia la catedral donde me reuniría con el resto de la resistencia para el último ataque.
