Updating our Youtube Channel

As we continue to contemplate our social media presence (especially web2), our youtube channel has come into view.

Now I have spent some time figuring out and organizing my twitter, this is a personal web2 brand, which I have talked some about and will probably post more about in the future. I have done some things, learned a lot, and have more plans in the future.

My wife, @ecoinstante, has started doing the same thing on instagram, her account is ledarangoeco. Web2 funnels, tools to be used personally.

Sure we have been writing on Web3 for a long while now. And its a beautiful thing. Yes we get some rewards, but more than that, our content is cryptographically owned by us. But in terms of outreach, engagement - Hive is very weak with that. We need Web2 for funneling, for eyeballs, for snowballing. Its just reality. I get more eyes on a tweet with 850 followers than on my Hive blog with 3k+ followers.

Now how about youtube?

Thanks a lot to @bobaphet and his super loud tripod we were able to make a number of great videos and are still continuously uploading to our youtube channel.

We have made many videos in the past, but have generally uploaded them all in one go, leaving many months of no uploads, which has not helped us at all with the algorithm. Right now we are being strategic. We have lots of videos still to make, but we also have a number in the chamber, which I can use at any time to make sure that a week never goes by without uploading.

But some weeks we just have to upload multiples.

We do both english and spanish videos, both ecological stuff (which seems a lot more popular!) as well as technical videos about open source, hive, crypto and development. I have done OBS computer tutorials in the past.

But recently our ecological videos have been popular, and I am getting @ecoinstante out of her comfort zone and recording all the great wisdom she has gained over the years as well. Between the two of us, and the two languages, I think we could theoretically go for years, as long as we keep working it into our routines.

We are preparing for a big visit, from a big group of master's degree students from California. Some of these videos are 'addressed' slightly towards them, but I try to keep it broad enough, and it seems like we are getting some play on youtube now. Not much.... but some. And something is better than nothing.

I am working on a few other projects, but basically I am making sure that we have videos to upload, the farm is ready for the visit, and I do all the token moving arounds that I must do to keep up with all the small projects I have laying around. These are the priorities.

And maybe, if we keep pressure on youtube for a year or so, into the real 'bull market', and beyond, we might have something really cool to build on. I am saving all the videos locally just in case though. I don't really trust Web2, but what else are we going to do? Again, I love HIVE, but I am not reaching anyone blogging here practically into a vaccuum. It is what it is.
