Rules Update to MOON!

We have thought long and hard about the idea of "RULES". I, as much as anyone probably, am not a person who enjoys so-called Rules-Lawyering, not being the lawyer or having the lawyer in the room. But the truth is, without rules, there is no game - a game is defined by its rules, which is why we talk about -

The Rules of the Game

image.png

These "top 2" rules have been heavily modified from the original repository - after much thought. Sure we might like to have different rules, to live in a world where when you write a rule, all the people would follow it "automagically", but we don't really live in that world, do we? Especially with added rewardification, there may be an incentive to "cheat", and cheat in ways that are hard to monitor.

Not only are we not eager to spend the rest of our lives monitoring hard-to-monitor things, I also cringe at the thought of catching just the accounts that are less good at pretending, and not punishing those accounts that are better at pretending they are not cheating.

So in that vein, we have opened up the rules. Do you want to multi-account? I can't stop you, we have log in with email. Do you want to "push"? The only limits to pushing will be determined by the top player, since everyone else is just catching up. Do you want to buy/sell/trade or haggle about these in-game resources? We are not going to stop you - we imagine that we live in a permissionless crypto-world anyway so I can't even imagine trying to become a blockchain detective to attempt to monitor the difficult-to-monitor stuff - all in the name of what is essentially a hobby - that is BUILDING A FUN GAME.

Botting

I am not sure there are bots in our game, but of course I did find some for ogame. GameForge, and their OGame, make a lot of money and have some incentive to become detectives and attempt to adjudicate things like this. We don't. We can't. It just doesn't make sense. But this is one area where we have drawn the line. If you are using automation - you must share.

We might not detect it at first, but if you are not sharing, we reserve the right to treat your account however we want. I will not enumerate our many options here, but we "the administration" could do many things - we will favor the things that support the most amount of FUN for the community of players.

Other rules

The other rules are the same, no "bashing", which is hard coded; going to war (hard coded) and "bug exploits" - which, while not hard coded of course, are pretty easy to detect - players are directed to report the bugs to us instead of using them for "profit", or face similar consequences as the above (aka whatever we decide).

And remember that our MOON game is open source - and the repository can be viewed here. Anyone can raise an issue, create a pull request, or other github related activity around this code base. We are happy to help, work to improve and collaborate with anyone around just about anything related to MOON - because that is "FUN".

Concerns?

Let me know all your questions, comments and concerns in the reply section below - this is "your game" as much as it is ours - we had a lot of fun playing Season 1, and are still enjoying playing post-season 1 and testing out our updates for Season 2 - including the RULES.

Let us know all your thoughts and feelings! These rules will go live on the site "soon".

Freedom and Friendship

i think there are a few rules from ogame that should be implemented in MOON
multiaccounting isnt that bad IF, pushing rule is applied
If i make 5 accounts, and all of them push (send resources) to just 1 account, thats a huge disadvantatge for the rest, and thus this HAS to be bannable
If this cant be implemented, multiaccounting must be banned too
Botting is a big issue, but its hard to monitor, unless someone proves to be online 24/7
For me the biggest issue is the Pushing rule if we want to have a fair game

Pushing is a rule that was created against raiders mafia forcing people to leave their resources to them.
Playing in team towards a goal might imply pushing, while still be legit.

Lot of you are misunderstanding "pushing" to helping one another.
Example :
"Pushing" as you say a raider in one guild by farmers might bring them top notch protection
"pushing" a scientific might bring a soon phalanx to protect the alliance fleets

and so on...

cheaters are cheaters, but a team playing together is not cheating.

Has anyone put any thought in to pushing?

Using many account to push one account up does no good to the player. Using this method to do so has costs no one is considering.

To do this tactic. You will need to be able to defend all planets.
Keep them growing or the resources provided is of no value.

They are only of use for pushing in the first two weeks.

I do think that they mostly become farms for everyone active, its hard to defend them. Obviously there is some advantage - but the limit is the human attention span. Getting your whole village to make accounts is another way that's not multi-accounting, but what motivates them to log in and send you the resources? Aren't they just players at some point?

There are a lot of ways to look at it, I think we could detect some extreme versions, which is why the new rules are looking to limit only the most egregious cases, when the top player(s) use it to try to continue to snowball. I think "working together" should not be considered pushing in most cases - but this also depends on designing more clever win conditions.

If only those who develop would talk with those who play.

I have talked about strategy of the game from the game production side. I have shared insights none other had thought of.
I have shared info on the multi account stuff.
I actually earned for a while doing that,
I got recruited to play Evony from playing The Settlers. Settlers3 with expansion packs online. I then got recruited from Evony to do the same thing. Attack plunder and then be attacked for resources.

I tried to share some of the cons and pros of different things. Methods that can be used by a new server, to give greater game play opportunities for players of all ranks to get a win in game.

It comes from me.
No one wants to talk any more about it.
Maybe I should start charging and not give solutions away so easy.

I feel like maybe you didn't read the new rules that now would allow multi accounts and pushing??

Because your comment it saying no one is listening to you and it seems to me that you could only come to that conclusion by not reading.

Am I not talking to you right now?

Honestly.
No.
There is no conversation here.
I feel a conversation has more than words.

The "if only" was not directed at Moon specifically. If you read it as general. I am confident you would agree.

My mind might be just too corrupted for you.

Corrupted for me too then, sorry, cause I was reading the pizza discord while season one, and @hivetrending and @ecoinstant were actively listening and replying.
Now you say "not only moon" for other projects, I don't know.

If I am still playing Season1, it's to support them, as they did efforts to understand and adapt.

I am not against the game.

It is not now I say, It is then I said. That I keep needing to say this is not just one thing is a bloody joke.

If only those who develop.

Are you trying to tell me it is only Moon the all those who develop are.

Me I am running several accounts for people to attack and gain resources. No goal in the game no ambition to conquer all.

I give up my time without expectation of any return value simply for the success of the project MOON.

But for some reason. As soon as I say anything. People take it arse ways and take what I say personal. This is easy to see by the responses to my comments.

Always defensive and not one time did one genius developer coder or other ask a question. Just straight to telling me I am wrong in some manner.

Add to that. The only reason and I stated this early. Is to provide the possibility for an increase in value for the PIZZA tokens.

Everything I have said about the game has been with direction of value for the token. I do not have thousands of the token. So I will not gain if the value rises. It would just be a partial success story the chain can boast about.

EVERYONE knows more than me. I keep asking questions. More often the question others will not ask.
Not one person has a question for me. They know it all already.

Sounds good!

I can appreciate coming up with rules is not easy and think y’all’s pragmatic approach is a smart way to go about it. This way yall can focus on more interesting things that will keep the project exciting.

It will benefit the Moon team and the players in the long run!

Please speak to blocktrades and ask him to turn off buildawhale and themarkymark as it doesn't look good for Hive

I appreciate the pragmatic approach, and your desire for open communication with the players. I took a break after not getting attacked for ages, and then all the sudden getting pummeled, which of course destroyed a good deal of what I had built up to that point...lol! I'll get back to rebuilding soon. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

What is by the way the current goal or mission of the game? Any new rewards intended?

I will show you this, we are still watching out for hall of fame, check the beneficiaries here: https://peakd.com/moon/@moon.records/hivenova-report-7qw1q07va3

I have become a massive ONEUP token whale and we are giving away these tokens.

I haven't listed a mission, as I travelled to guatemala for HiveHub experiment, but we could do one - right now you might call it free play, or set your own goals. I would like to get out a few more tutorial missions (for any universe) ready before we launch season 2.

The Moon game is interesting to play. I'm still learning. Where can I get Pizzabits? I think it's possible to buy them.

The Pizzabits can be found on expeditions - but they are also purchaseable with a deposit of PIZZA token in the "OPTIONS" menu:

I get excited to level my buildings, build new things and grow in Moon... and it makes me so sad and sometimes angry when I get attacked and destroyed everything that with effort and time I have built hahahaa. But it's part of the game!!!

I'm also excited that the team keeps striving to provide a better and more fun game experience. I encourage and support them!!!

Thanks!!!
