I ran away yesterday
Hydrodynamic engineering is a bit of a hobby of mine, maybe of anyone who makes their own water flow instead of just paying somebody a water bill to do it for them. But beyond the physical realm, and you all should know I love to connect the real and the conceptual learnings across many fields, there is "fluid dynamics" in pipeline management as well.
Some months ago, I was working hard on "filling my pipe" and making sure everybody knew it. Somewhere along the way the pipe was full and I stopped shouting so loud.
Now there are days when just opening discord and seeing the list of dms is almost too much for me to handle. Some tips, at the end of the post for those of you who might feel ignored right now.
3:45am attempt at a bus stop selfie.
When I step back and think about it, I really don't "have to" pay attention to anybody or anything, especially digital. But I do, and its important to make sure I do it in a healthy amount.
Which for most of you, is probably zero on at least some days. Especially days when I'm doing something else.
So yesterday, we attempted a maneuver that seems quite possible on paper, which is to go to Bogotá and come back in the same day.
Above you can see us drinking our 6 am coffee in Vianí, already halfway to the capital. I got the middle seat, which made me kind of grumpy the rest of the day, honestly the ability to "sit" in one place for hours seems to be something I am progressively losing as I get older.
But we did make it.
Its not a real trip to the capital without at least one bureaucratic task; we got a special piece of paper that said all the things that our copy of the paper says, but now its "official". We have been using the copy of a lady's death certificate in one of our land deals, and it turns out - as we get closer to the final moments - that's just not good enough.
So we paid the three dollars for an "original", and mostly ignored the transportation costs, since we really came to Bogotá for something else. Something much shinier.
I have been without a laptop for about 8 months, luckily with the great help of @thecrazygm I got all my files recovered and my "old" tower set up, and when the weather is good I would even move that whole heavy set up outside and was quite productive with it.
But with increasing travel, this was not viable. I took two trips already this year and, despite many many things being possible from mobile, I suffered greatly from lack of laptop.
Now it seems there might be more and longer travels in my future. People seem to like us! But to avoid permanent hermitage, this laptop was needed.
Great! Now will you answer my dm?
Okay, final thoughts.
If you want me to respond to you, first, say something interesting. "Hello", "hey there" or "how are you" will be ignored, I don't care if you are my best friend from elementary school, aint nobody got time for that nonsense.
Additionally, I always remark on how the school system has failed us. Please do your best to ask a good question. Here is some important reading material, for your life, not for me.
How to ask questions the smart way
This is a historical document. The lingo might be a bit dated but the content is as evergreen as it comes.
And, thats about it. Get to the point and ask a smart question. And before long I will show up. I always do.
Stay tuned, the universe is in flux!
Hola feliz tarde.

Of course people like you brother, what is there not to like. Matt told me yesterday you are going to be in the Guate with the Butt. I'm sure you are taking your wife with you. This is badass bro... I'm jelly, but in a good way. Wish I could be there too, even if its just for a week or so, but its imposible pa mi.
You never imagined you would be this popular growing up? hahahah
un abrazo hermano
Dont say never, Im totally pulling you up for a week after I test the water. 😅
Oh good! Now I feel like I can ignore the Hello DMs too! Ain't nobody got time for that!
Congrats on that shiny new laptop!
I was without a laptop for one month after the previous iteration finally died, so I feel you on being without one for 8 months. Congratulations on procuring a new one. You're an amazing fellow, my friend, so of course you would be in high demand. I appreciate your 'rules of engagement' as a way of filtering out useless communication. I need to do that more. Enjoy the flux and flow! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
What a fantastic post
From water dynamics to message dynamics, you nailed the connection between the two concepts 👏
What relief that you have been able to recover your files and start your tower.
It is true that working from the mobile has its limitations, especially when you are moving.
Having a laptop will definitely make everything more practical and bearable, especially with the trips that come.

I went from desperately trying to network and build connections to being overwhelmed by all the messages and opportunities. The filling the pipe metaphor is spot on, there's definitely a sweet spot between empty and completely flooded.
Nailed it!
