Currently I experience the same, and this is why I asked.

My Hive feed is full of contests, challenges, and all kinds of forced contents, and in most cases, even the comments are forced, so people force themselves to write posts/comments.

And sometimes they even openly/publicly admit it too.

A few months ago I read someone's Wave mentioning that he/she wrote more than 100 comments on that day, and that he/she is really tired because of that.

Many people on this platform see commenting too as some kind of contest/challenge.

And many people write comments under other people's posts only when the other person also write a content under their posts.

So most people on this platform do not have actual interest in the contents, and they do not have actual contents either.

Honestly this is rather discouraging both from browsing the contents of this platform, and from publishing contents on it too.

I just do not understand why most people cannot use this platform naturally.

Like any other socially properly working social networks (for example Facebook, YouTube).

Few days back, a guy posted about a Ukrainian family who di*d in a Russian attack. To my surprise people were saying, "nice shot/click, beautiful." There may or may not be language barrier, but translator is free.

There is very less genuine, creative or critical content. As you said, it's forced.
