INCREASE IN COST OF LIVING IN COUNTRY NIGERIA

avatar

Hi everyone, It's my first time here in this amazing community, #HiveNaija. And today, I'd like to write about the situation in the country.

Increase in prices in the country, Nigeria.

It's really funny that the prices of things just literally went up as a joke in the country, and it doesn't look as if anything is being said or done about that.

Food items are literally getting more expensive in the country on a daily basis. There is also an increase in the price of fuel in the country, which is making transportation more expensive and way too costly to afford.

As a citizen in Nigeria, the moment you decide to step out of the house alone, it can be so expensive because having the thought on its own is already costly. especially in big cities like Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Ibadan, and many other amazing cities in Nigeria.

I eventually had the opportunity to branch out at a shopping mall today to get some stuff for myself, and I literally came across some items in the mall, and I was really shocked by the fast increase of things in the mall.

I asked for the price tag of a bag of rice and was really shocked to hear a bag of rice is now #70,000 And I was speechless and in great shock till I left the mall.

I literally remember very well when I followed my mom to the market once in a while to assist her in getting some food stuff for consumption at home then, and I remember very well then that a bag of rice wasn't even up to #12,000 naira then.

But it's just funny how things turned out really badly lately in the country,in the sense that the cost of living in the country is getting more expensive lately and there aren't any increases in salaries.

Increases in bills are massive

on a daily basis, and there are no increases in the salaries being paid to most of the workers in the country. Some of them are in great debt, which is even more than their salary.

Are the payouts really worth it?

Imagine a fully grown man being paid #50,000 naira in the present situation of the country, and he's got children to send to school,a family to prove to,his personal needs to satisfy, and lots more.

How do you expect such a person to cope??? How??? Most of these people are frustrated, depressed, and angry at every moment of their lives.

Which turned out not to be their fault most of the time? It's just the situation they find themselves in. The country isn't smiling; how do you expect most of them to overcome the circumstances? It's a hard task to pay off.

And the fact that most of these people are really trying so hard to be okay and overcome most of the challenges before them—but what do they do when they've tried and tried without any evidence or results to show for it?

Some of them are trying so hard not to go into illegal deals to survive, but how on earth would some of them not have a second thought about it now??? There are no good jobs out there.

Kinds Of Job Offered

For an instant, imagine someone who gets a job in the city of Lagos and is then paid the sum of #75,000 monthly, and he or she has to go to work from Monday to Friday every week.

First of all,the cost of transportation on a weekly basis is expensive on its own. Talk less about feeding themselves on a daily basis at work.

Is it really worth it? Think about it: if you were to be in that shoe, would you prefer to accept such a job or rather remain jobless?

So I literally don't really blame people who engage in illegal acts sometimes. I'm not saying it's right for them to go into it, though, but they are also trying so hard to survive and be okay, just like every other person wishes to be in society.

But there's nothing we can do other than just hope and pray for a better country, Nigeria, and also hope everything gets better and good again.

Everyone is frustrated and mostly desperate to do anything for money just to survive this trying time. We hope to see a better version of Nigeria soon❤️.

You are welcome to hive, you need to understand what the economy is saying. The city need to reduce her population. Many people have to go back to their villages and start farming job. The era of 9-5 job is coming to an end. You need to position yourself, you can be in your village and work online.

So when do you plan on going back to the village to start farming?

You can still stay in the city and farm, it doesn't matter where you are. And how many villages can you stay in that has proper electricity and network?

I am in my home town already lol. You want to use land of 25m per plot to farm? If you have the capital you can go ahead. Network is not bad as you think.

So are you farming?
It doesn't matter if you're in the city or in the village, you can still farm.

Regardless of where you are, things are expensive , you can't run away from it just by going to the village. You don't plant soap, cream, butter and other things, and they're extremely expensive everywhere. It's even more costlier in the village because of transportation.

Network is just too bad and what about electricity?

The question I keep asking every day is if Nigeria will ever go back to normal, back to when things weren't as expensive as this, back to fuel being sold at the normal rate, maybe I'm just asking myself too many questions I don't have answers to, but all the same, I wish us the citizens the very best in all we do.

The hike in prices of things especially basic amd important things like food items, house rent, transportation is too bad. Thinking about all you hsve said hdte alone is a big worry that can cause high bp.

No job oppurtunities, no adequate empowerment programs. I thank God for blessing us with technology that is allowing us to earn online through contents, buying and selling and online skills.

The most annoying part about the prices of goods going up is it would never come down. Maybe some will, but 80% of things would still stay like that.
I hope Nigeria gets better leader
