Did you know that Words change over time.
For example, the word "awful" once meant "awe-inspiring" and "bully" was a sweet term for loved ones.
Our language changes and that's why if you travel back in time, it's not the same English

I believe "Gay" used to mean "funny and light-hearted" too. Was surprised when I found out.
oh wow, now that you're telling me, I'm not too surprised because when you say light hearted most of the gay people I see seem to look or portray that
In Classical Arabic, the word "حوت" used to descripe any type of Fish. In Modern Arabic, it's used exclusively for Whales. I find it funny when I read old text, and they say they ate a "whale" but they just meant a small fish.
Interestinly, in my local Arabic dialect, we do use "حوت" for any type of fish, so other Arabs might be surprised when they hear us.
I really have to start reading a lot of different books, been reading just English books my whole life, probably messed with my judgment
