Why I love poetry

At first I never loved poems, and this was because one needed to connect deeply to every line of it to understand what the poet was saying. It was like speaking gibberish and expecting the world to search for the meaning of it. But as time went on, I came across poems with few words but spoke a lot of things that a full page of writing couldn't have expressed. It was like speaking of one's hidden pain and joy in a few words yet a strong voice.

Poets have different ways of expressing one's deepest desire, it searches beyond that which the eyes can see and brings it to light using objects we feel and touch. It's not just about writing, it's about what the writing voices out. I'm not yet good at writing poems, but I've come to like it and this is because I express myself better with poems. It's like penning down what I can't speak in a few lines and making an archive of them daily.

It is said that a mirror shows the face of a man but a poem searches a man's soul. Writing short poems became my peace , suddenly I found myself relaxing to pen down things about me and each writing a story from my soul's archive. With poetry, it's possible to have a connection with your inner self, with poetry it's possible to know a man's fear and courage. Poetry isn't just a random text filled with metaphor and personification, but a beauty that connects with the poet's soul.
