Reputation: Your Name

During the ancient days, when technology was still undeveloped, people would often want to find out about a stranger who visited their land by asking questions, or sending messages to the clan he comes from. This was because an individual's reputation mattered to them. It was a glimpse of who he is, whether a blessing or a curse and a gateway to his acceptance or rejection.

Reputation is what one is known for. It is what people see when one's name is mentioned. Synonymously, a reputation can be one's name and that's the reason it's important to have a good reputation, it impacts one's name.

Reputation is a very important consideration to me. How people see me or others should matter to me especially if their judgment is done with no bias. There's a saying that goes, "Show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are". This implies that one's trait can be communicated. So the friends one keeps and what one desires to be addressed as is an important thing to note.

How Do I Know My Reputation?
Simply by the way I live, and the little rumors told about me by others(which may contain a small amount of truth). Want to know about you? Eardrop on people gossiping about you or discover how you respond in certain situations. A thief will often be moved to steal when exposed to properties and a gossiper never runs out of updates.

Reputation impacts
What you're known for is an access to the level one is accepted, and trusted. It gives people a sense of security especially when one is known for a good reputation. Just like who we are, and want to be addressed as, reputation is important.
