A Life With No Basic Amenities

A day starts in my life with a sudden cut in electrical power, water and gas. It happened so suddenly and there I was unprepared. To be honest, for the next 48hours I'll be unstabilized, an aftermath of no preparation. But while I go through these days, I'll think of ways to manage through the period this grid would last.

The only thing that would make this period so hard is that our major sources of income and well-being lie in these basic things, but that doesn't mean there are no alternatives to them. The beauty of life is the choices and resources that surround us,all that's needed is making use of one. Even when there's a power grid, there are solar energy and generators as alternatives. Even when there's a cut in water supply, our wells and rivers never go dry. Even when there's no gas , we can still make use of charcoal and wood. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but we can adapt through these crises.

Homo sapiens were special for their sense of adaptation, and as evolution came, this adaptation only evolved into a better shape. It would only be a matter of time before we fit into this new reality and probably find a better purpose in it. Sometimes we may not know the beauty of nature and how much we are distracted from the real world if we don't embrace it. I once stayed two weeks without a phone , but during this period, I engaged myself with books and I realized how much I've been missing, glued to mobile devices.

So I'll adapt but it'll take a few days of hardship. While I can't use the direct electrical supply, I'll use a generator and where there's no fuel, I'll go with solar energy. It wouldn't be convenient for a start but I'll adapt slowly. We'll make use of wells in place of water, and these people may help a lot of people dig wells in their compounds. And for gas, wood and charcoal will be useful. So it's all a win-win, while we go back to the old ways, we save more
