The system is not always at fault

Many people disagree with our former president's statement that Nigerian youths are lazy. Nigerian youths work hard every day just to make ends meet. However, some can be considered lazy due to their constant begging for money instead of finding work. I personally live in a crowded street where I witness this behavior frequently. Despite being healthy, they choose to beg instead of work.

Many young people are unemployed and instead of looking for work, they resort to becoming bullies and thugs in their communities. They often beg for money and can become aggressive if their demands are not met. Some of these individuals even resort to robbing at night, causing problems for their community. Is this solely the fault of the system or the individuals themselves?

Even in the good system we still have those that choose to be thugs and those that don't want to work

The truth is that the system is not good, and if we look at the system very well and how many people are jobless, it is evident this kind of thing will happen, but not so many of them are thugs or hoodlums because the country can't offer them jobs, we have those who choose to be thugs or thieves just because they enjoy it. I used to be a friend of a guy whose parents were very comfortable, and they tried their best to send this guy into one of the best universities in the country. Still, this guy chose to join hoodlums, and he enjoyed it, and he's even proud to be one of them. I have seen so many people like that too.

We can all agree that the system is no good, and it's evident everywhere. The economy is getting worse every day, the country is corrupt and so many things are not right but when it comes to people's choices to do better for themselves, sometimes it's not always related to the government some of us just choose to be what we want to be, and I'm saying this just because we have so many people in the that are doing jobs that can hardly feed them or their family but they choose to work to do these jobs to feed themselves and even to provide for their families instead of becoming a thug or hoodlum that would be disturbing the society.

Sometimes we have ourselves to blame and not the system because we choose what we are

It's no secret that many young, talented Nigerian youths have had their futures ruined by poor governance. Countless dreams have been shattered due to this issue. While it is true that evidence of this problem is all around us, we must also acknowledge the fact that some individuals choose to remain jobless and cannot solely blame the system for their circumstances. It's important not to always point fingers at the system because sometimes, we can take control of our own lives and create better opportunities for ourselves. Many successful people started with nothing but still managed to achieve great things. Despite all the challenges, there are Nigerian youths who use the system as an excuse instead of taking action to improve their lives.

It sounds like a tough system to live under and I do agree that the system isn't fully to blame for everything. It still requires people to have the mindset to improve and change in order for things to possibly succeed. It is rough when you consider how much hard work and luck you might need.

I think the corrupt and broken system facilitates people to make this kind of choices. But when we look closer into it, we also realize that some people decided to do better despite the corrupt system they find themselves in. At the end of the day, whether we do better or not is mostly dependent on us and not necessarily the system we find ourselves in.

The system is poor and the government doesn't really care. At the end of the day, it is either we take action to work and provide for ourselves or stay idle to beg, and we all know that an idle man is the devil's workshop...the choice is ours.
