Being able to negotiate is one of the most effective ways to sell products. Some people have a natural talent for it, and they can make a profit out of any situation. However, it's important to consider the people you are negotiating with. Understanding your customer is key, and sometimes, the only skill some people have is to stroke your ego to make a sale or convince you to buy something. While this may have worked in the past, it's important to be aware of these tactics and not fall for them.

One way salespeople try to convince you to buy things you can't afford is by appealing to your sense of pride. They may use language that makes you feel important or successful, even if purchasing the product would negatively impact your finances. This can be especially difficult when you're with loved ones or trying to impress someone. Despite knowing that you can't afford it, you may feel pressured to make the purchase to avoid feeling inadequate.

In the past, I have successfully used tactics to deal with certain individuals. However, sometimes I won't say no just to show that I have enough, or to impress someone. As I age, I realize the importance of managing my finances, which means saying no to unnecessary expenses or anything that could harm my financial stability. Many people fall into this trap, but some understand it. When you're with a group of people, some may try to take advantage of you by offering an inflated price, knowing that your ego won't let you negotiate.

A simple strategy but always effective with those who are trying to prove a point

The majority of individuals tend to strive to prove a point when they are growing up, which applies to about 80% of people. This is why the strategy of massaging a client's ego tends to be successful since most people are attempting to prove something. However, this tactic may not work for someone who is business-oriented or knowledgeable about how they spend their money. In such cases, it may be challenging to use this approach. Nevertheless, those who are just starting a business and are interested in purchasing something may find it difficult to decline. At times, people are apprehensive about the actual cost of a product offered to them. Although most individuals may be aware of the value of particular products, they may be hesitant to decline because they are fearful of saying no.

Saying no is a skill we develop over time

Anybody who has suffered from addiction before will understand how difficult it is because saying no is one of the most difficult things in life, and to be able to say no to the things that matter takes time and time to develop skills. some people are fortunate to develop the skills early in life but some have to develop it the more struggle at the encounter in their life. If you can't say no, it will be tough to manage the business, manage yourself, and even be disciplined. Saying no to sellers or buyers who are trying to massage your ego also takes time, but it is one of the most important things we must learn to do.

Yesterday I went to a shop to buy a product (already bought one month ago) and the seller was trying to sell me the same product for more than double the honest price. I said no. This morning I checked my bank account, made a screenshot of the transaction and when I bought it today I got it at the correct price. So good job and I felt happy :)

Lol! I could imagine a salesperson trying to massage my ego to buy what I don't even have in my list😅 I mean that's really funny because at the end of it, I might end up buying it if I don't have a power NO in me. That's why it is important to learn how to say NO, it is not everything that is for us no matter the pressure we might feel.

Without the skill of saying no, we will fall for every tactic thrown at us by sales people. Their job is to get every penny they can out of us, and this definitely isn't good for us. We spend more than we need or even have.

I think selling things to people in a way to get them to buy it is a skill. I don't really have that skill but there is always a demand for those people. It's tough to say no but having clear goals in mind does help.
