More money won't solve it
One thing I’ve come to realize about finances is that blaming external factors cannot change our finances, It will only make it worse because that will give you reasons not to change. You feel you are trying your best and what you are blaming is the reason why your best is not working and most times it is a lie. One thing we blame especially in Africa is the government and a lot of people complain about the government, I’m not saying that our government is good but most times we do not take our financial life seriously.
We have people who live paycheck to paycheck despite earning a lot of money. The prices of goods and services have tripled in Nigeria recently but people who are still earning life-changing money are living paycheck to paycheck but they put all the blame on the government. Their common phrase is “government is the reason why they cannot manage Finance”. People blame different things on why they are not spending their income well but the common one is the government and thinking more money will solve the problem.
More money won't solve your problem
When people argue about the government and how more money can change your life, I always strongly agree with them. If our government implements better policies things might be better or if you increase your income things might change for you but this is not the case for most people. We have people who are living in a better society but they have no savings and they are still living paycheck to paycheck. We have multimillionaires who go broke after a change of policy or some financial problems. These have nothing to do with the government or you having more money. It is just mentality.
The problem is that some people just don’t understand how to manage their finances. If you can’t manage $25,000 a year there is I probability that you cannot manage $250,000 a year. Most people live their lives directly proportional to their income, there is no savings and there is no plan for tomorrow and at any financial hardship, They are already back to grand zero. This has nothing to do with the government or the amount of money you are making because if these set of people are also making 100K a month their income will still be directly proportional to the expenses.
The mentality is the same among the poor and also among the rich, and this has nothing to do with the government or money.
The problem is not with the government or the kind of money you are making, it is your poor financial management. If you can’t manage a small income there is a chance that you won't be able to manage a big income. You don't have to look before you see people with this kind of mentality, they blame the government, money, and things around them, but the real problem is them. They don’t think about the future and they don’t make plans for tomorrow. Some of these people are just one step away from bankruptcy, one step away from being broke and it has everything to do with the poor decision.
Thanks for your time.
