Let it go

I have a friend who decided to join the gym and focus on a healthy lifestyle, and I was happy for him. However, for the past few months, I realized nothing had changed about him, and his stomach was only getting bigger. I knew he was doing something wrong, so I questioned him about his diet. He said he was not eating junk food and had cut down his carbs. He also mentioned that he quit smoking. When I asked him about alcohol, he said it's the only thing he can't stop because he loves it. I told him he has to choose between pleasure and good living.

I advised him to quit gradually, instead of all at once, since this habit is the only thing standing in the way of reaching his goals. He believes that alcohol helps him cope with life's challenges, considering it as a kind of lifeline. Many people face the same issue when striving for success; they are unwilling to let go of habits that hinder their progress. We often complain that our goals are taking too long to achieve when in reality, we are the ones unwilling to fully commit.

Don't waste your time.

Most people make excuses for their bad habits, they tell things to make you feel like what they are doing is right but in reality, it is very bad the only problem is they can quit and what this normally leads to is just a waste of time. The biggest hindrance you will have is yourself and if you don't win over your excuses, complaints, and lies you tell yourself all the time when you want to indulge those bad behaviors blocking you, your growth might be difficult in life because everything we become in life is down to the choice, habit and compounding it.

Many people begin working towards their goals but struggle to follow through. They might make an effort for a while but then revert to their old habits. They don't stick with it long enough to see actual results that would motivate them to continue putting in the effort. I've observed this pattern often at the gym, where people show up for a while and then give up. These individuals understand what they need to do and have a plan, but they can't maintain consistency and end up wasting their time because they're not willing to change in order to meet their goals. The main reason why some people fail to achieve their goals is because they're unwilling to let go of their old selves.

You lose

The truth about life is that nothing is easy. I am not saying it will be easy when you are trying to let go, but if your reason is big enough, you will be willing to let go of your bad habits. If you don't give them up, you will not achieve your goal, and the only person who will lose is you. Why not give it your all and let go of the bad behavior? This will compound to see a good result.

Thanks for your time.

It's a tough choice but I do think that people have to consider what they consider more important. It seems like he wants to be more healthy so I think he should let it go, but it's all up to him.

Bad habits are like chains that'll always anchor us back into our old selves when we try to change. I think gradually phasing out bad habits and replacing them with new and good habits is a good way to go, makes the transition less hard too.

It's one of the biggest reasons why people still take alcohol, they just believe it helps them cope with life challenges. It's impossible to actually gym and still take alcohol, I don't think it'll work

Some people can quit at once, others need a more lenient pathway for that. But if you put your hearth to it, anything is possible. Just need to find for each of us the inner motivation that works...

We have to do what works for us but never to go back to what we are to run from
