Imperfection

Hello everyone,

We are in a world today where social media make it seem like everything and everyone is perfect, to be honest, everything and everyone cannot be perfect and it is high time we accept that. If you don’t know, that imperfection is what makes us human, let’s start embracing our mistakes and flaws, please. The pressure of wanting to be perfect can always lead to depression and feelings of inadequacy. We are in a society that frequently worships success and perfection, many people juggle with self-acceptance. Nevertheless, recognizing our imperfections helps us to cultivate self-approval and compassion.

When we even embrace our flaws, we can always develop a more genuine sense of self which will lead to improved mental and good relationships with people. When we accept our imperfections there is this change of perspective we will have that will encourage us to not see our imperfections as flaws but as an important aspect of our originality.
When we strive too much for perfection, it will lead to unrealistic expectations like setting some kind of goals for ourselves and when we don’t meet up we feel downcast and inadequate. Also, striving for perfection can lead to comparisons in the sense that social media loudens the tendency of comparisons.

On social media, people only show the best version of their lives and show achievements while downplaying struggles and failures. So many people don’t even know this and they go ahead to compare their lives with these people. They start to feel inferior in their own lives. Mind you, this is not me saying some people do not get what they have on a platter of gold on social media but not all get all the good things on a platter of gold. When you constantly compare, it leads to nothing but low self-esteem and you will always feel like you’re not living up to the perceived standards. Focus on yourself and your journey, please.

In conclusion to this, let’s learn to embrace our imperfections and stop striving to be perfect In a detrimental way. Let’s be more authentic and resilient. Above all, our imperfections make us unique. Let’s not make perfection the goal but just enjoy the journey of being ourselves and human.

Thanks for your time
