The male Ypthima baldus has dull brown upper wings with a broad greyish black line on the forewings, while the female is paler distally. The upper wings of this species have a large yellow-ringed ocellus in space 2 of the forewings, and 2 smaller, adjacent yellow-ringed ocelli in spaces 2 and 3 of the hindwings. The undersides of the wings are pale greyish to brown with a whitish background. source
