My favorite "salad" - Russian salad

When the New Year holidays approach, the talk of food and drink becomes current.
And with us, the Balkans, New Year's Eve cannot pass without "Russian salad", which must be on the New Year's table.

Honestly, I have no idea why it is called Russian, when it has nothing to do with Russia 🙂

And as soon as the guests are served, they immediately remember the recipe for Russian salad.

And then everyone who is in the company and at the table gets involved in the discussion about the best recipe...
And those who are drunk, and therefore the loudest, as well as those who haven't drunk or haven't gotten drunk yet, so they can hardly hear each other ...
I don't have a special recipe, I just prepared it in the same way for years and that's how this became the best combination for me.
As someone said: "Sometimes less is more...".
From the ingredients I use (for 8 servings):
500 grams of ham (pork, chicken or turkey)
700 grams of potatoes
500 grams of carrots,
300 grams of pickled cucumbers
400 grams of mayonnaise
A spoonful of mustard
Salt and
Pepper.

And how do I prepare?
Simply:
I peel the potatoes and carrots, boil them and cut them into small cubes.
I cut the sliced ham into small cubes and add it to the potatoes and carrots.
I cut the cucumbers into small pieces and add 2/3.
I mix everything in a large bowl, add a spoonful of mustard and mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
After combining, I taste how it tastes and, if necessary, add the remaining 1/3 of the cucumbers and salt...

After mixing, pour it into glass containers and let it cool.

It is served from the refrigerator, and can be eaten only with pastry, but also with various types of meat, as one likes...
Bon appetit!
