There is better life, but it's not so cheap
This is somewhat a delayed post I was about to make near my birthday (March 21), and so I was planning to buy a nft for fun but just left it aside, I know it doesn't make any sense lol, and somewhat it has to do with why I use this username and some of yah may know it but I used to work in farmland raising cattle in childhood at weekends during some 4 years, from age of 6 to 10 my grandfather used to carry me there to learn about... So I identify a lot with it...
Still know close people that works with farmland but just kinda distanced of it since grandpa sold stuffs on old age in some financial turnaround... And went to learn others areas...
Well, 'll tell some brief stories and a dangerous one at the end... Many times I used to just go back to stables alone late afternoon after rounding around and carrying cattle back to some pastures at around 10 minutes distance (by horse) after vaccination cycles together with some nice and good few workers there... Are not needed many cause a sheppard can take care of hundreds of sheeps for example... And they used to actually instruct me to learn. So probably 3 to 4 people are enough and even dogs will automatically help. It's easy since even dangerous bulls have some herd mentality.
I wasn't the one vaccinating or marking them of course (as a child), so I just stayed in observation inside corral. There is somewhat a manual wood machine where you lock the cow/bull by the neck where they need to pass... If they manage to escape, force through it or a well timed jump, they need to go back again to the line... It's kinda interesting, and some are very angry or scared of course, "cause wtf is that, right?!", not trying to get into your thoughts here hehe... They are not able to give a high kick through the high fence, everything goes accordingly.
Besides many giant spiders on corral top corners, I kinda like spiders, but not these, these are really scary since they are poisonous... People call them of tarantulas, the black ones with lots of hair, but some were from same size and yellow or with red and black color... No one gets near it lmao.
Most of activities are simple, to surround cattle, carrying them to eat salt, to drink water in a river or branch access and so on... I only didn't need to clean hooves, which horses needs from time to time, and I think that's the most of tough work it has, even more depending on the horse, but people even watch this as ASMR at YouTube... Cause the other stuff is to deal with wild horses that are not well tamed... But most of them were there...
I never used spores, but is not uncommon at Brazil, we normally take some wood branch to conduct speed or through sound commands and reins...
Well, I never had to deal with complication in difficult births, wouldn't even know how to deal with it honestly, and would get a bit scared, the idea is indeed to care for the animals, and I don't think most likes to kill one, well, I wouldn't... My encounters were not daily but it was normal to hear relates like "the cow gave birth" ("a vaca pariu"), but I know some relatively but few % of births needs some kinda of help.
Also some stories like "hey, I found a cow dead once cause a jaguar ate it's ass", and it wasn't a joke cause it was surrounded by open forest, even though it isn't that common in my state, it happens...
I wish to know more about taming horses... Even though I kinda learned and watched some of it... The deal is that they trust you or not by your behavior/nature too, and I actually used to deal well with them... You shouldn't trust to pass behind them, you never do it lol, only if know it really well... The kick would send you to talk with Jesus. They are ok at being let in wood fences with reins stationed, but you always remember to let in some shadowy area... They also like to be petted.
Did some hipism for few time, which is nice... But already knew how to conduct jumps... You just need to let reins really loose and high so you won't trouble the horse, just a bit of timing on it... Honestly, it doesn't depend much on the rider, besides weight.
But anyway, the farm is still my haven place in mind, just to run on roads covered by trees and only the sound of birds and wind on leafs, everything has a distinct smell by grass and dungs, cows and horses, and even saddles, which makes easy to remind.
But end story is, once going back alone my horse "fired" for around 2-3km, Idk how you guys call it, it ran without control, a stampede?! (But I guess a herd moving can also be called like that). Anyway, it won't stop by no way no matter how much you push reins to break. Most of the path was straight, but in some curves here and there was really scary, like, hey, I can possibly die here yah know, easier being a lightweight... I was even screaming for help passing near house lol, I never went so fast that way, I like going fast, but that is insanity, I didn't even know they could push themselves beyond gallop speed, so what I learned by xp is that this isn't their fastest... And you really need to get lower and near it like riders do on races lol just to avoid to fall, It happened that he was really thirsty after a long and hot day and wanted to go back to near stables for water, well, I guess so, or it went direct to it after the rush to heavily drink, even his breath was accelerated... I just went to gtfo and lock reins cause my own heart was fired at that point.
Well, it wasn't lack of care, I always stoped for them to hydrate well... Unusual, stuffs just happens, and this is some unexpected one that is not possible to forget, maybe because it's really unexpectable?! Lol
