Cooking With Love: How I Made a Healthy Veggie Recipe, Pancakes and Dried Fish for the School Feeding Program
Do you like veggies? Today, I am excited to share my story about yesterday’s school feeding program. My schedule is every Friday, but my groupmates were absent, so I was the only one who cooked and prepared the food for the kids. Every time I see the kids happy while eating. I become happier and more inspire to cook again and again.
I started very early in the morning. The first dish I prepared was monggo with sponge gourd and malunggay leaves. The monggo was already given by the school, so I soaked it the night before and biled it early at home. This dish is very simple, but it is full of nutrients that the kids need to grow strong and healthy.
The smell of garlic and onion sauteing in the pan made me even more excited. Then I added the boiled monggo, the chopped sponge gourd, and the malunggay leaves. The green color of the veggies made the dish look so fresh and inviting. It felt good to cook something healthy for the children.
After finishing the monggo, I prepared the next recipe – pancakes! We used Magnolia pancake flour, two egg and some cooking oil. It was easy to make, I mixed the batter until it was smooth and then cooked the, one by one on the pan. Soon, the smell of sweet pancakes filled the room. Pancakes are the children’s favorite, so I made sure to cook enough for everyone.
To complete the meal, we also had dried fish (dilis). I fried them until crispy and golden brown. The smell was strong, but it made me feel at home because dried fish is a common food we eat our community. I knew the kids would enjoy it because it adds a salty and crunchy taste to the meal.
When everything was ready, I arranged the food nicely and called the children to eat. They came running with big smiles on their faces. Some of the, even clapped and washed their hands when they saw the pancakes! I warmed my heart.
As they eat, I could see their happy faces and hear their laughter. Some kids even said Thank you and made me feel so proud. Cooking for the, is not just about giving food, it is sharing love and joy to them.
This day I taught me that even simple dishes can bring so much happiness when cooked with love. I learned that it doesn’t matter if I am alone, I can still so something meaningful for others. Feeding program like this are important because they help children stay healthy and active in school.
I went home tired but very happy. My heart was full of joy because I know the kids enjoyed their meal. I cant wait for next Friday to cook again. If you want to try something new at hoe, you can make monggo with sponge gourd and malunggay too! It is healthy, delicious, and budget friendly. And of course, pancakes will always be a hit for kids.
Thank you so much for reading my story! This is my own picture, edited in Canva. I hope my little story inspired you to cook something healthy and share it with others. See you next time! 💛
Nice and yummy
Thanks for dropping by! yes, super nice, yummy and healthy foods. 😍
Kids will surely love this food, feeding program is the best program government could give to the young ones.
Yes sis, This feeding program is one of the most meaningful ways the govt support for the next generation. May iilan lang talaga na mga bata na ayaw kumain ng gulay. kaya may pancake para din makakain ang lahat kasi yun ang favorite nila.😁
I salute you for that amazing work sis...They're very fortunate that you're their teacher.
What a nutritious meal you made for the kids, The joy you see on their faces was fulfilling after cooking for them. Even if you are tired it was worth it because of their innocent smile 😊
This really touched me. Cooking for the kids with so much love, even on your own, shows how powerful simple acts can be. Their smiles and thanks say it all you’re making a big difference. Can’t wait to hear about your next cooking day
I love how you put so much love into cooking for the kids. They must have been so happy with the food, especially the pancakes. Their smiles are the best reward for all your effort❤️
hello kabayan! very kind of you to make feeding program for the kids.
Very good, my friend. It looks exquisite, it makes me want to eat it immediately. Best regards. I hope to continue seeing your delicious culinary creations.
I love mung beans and I always cook it at home. We're on the same boat. I can't resist eating a lot of rice if I smell the sautéd onion and garlic to the monggo. If only I could eat a lot of monggo. It triggers my rheuma.
It's more delicious when it is made with love. Yummy and healthy foods mommy @dreamrona. 🥰💕
It's so inspiring to see the love you put into every dish 💖 The children's happiness is the best reward, and it's clear how much they appreciate what you've made for them 💕
