Hello everyone! Being a mom comes with many responsibilities, and I often dream of balancing my work, family time and spiritual life. I want to make sure I have moments for my church and personal reflection, while stil spending quality time with my child. Life may be simple, but I’m grateful for every blessing God gives me. ❤️

Recently, my daughter and I had a wonderful experience attending town’s kandila festival, celebrated in honor of Nuestra Seniora de la Candelaria. This festival happens just one day before the patronal fiesta and is always filled with excitement, devotion and creativity. One of the highlights for us was participating in a candle holder contest. We decided to make a simple bamboo holder, something modest but meaningful.

Before the contest began, we made sure to attend Mass at our Parish, walking around the church with my energetic and playful daughter was a joyful experience. She was curious and full of excitement, and it made me appreciate how important it is to guide her in learning about faith and tradition from an early age. Even small moments like these remind me of the values I hope to instill in her while also cherishing our togetherness.

At 6:00 pm the procession started. I felt immense happiness seeing my daughter walking alongside me, lively and cheerful throughout the event. Her energy was infectious, and it made the celebration even more special. It’s amazing how children can find joy in simple traditions when they are taught and accustomed to them from a young age. I am thankful for her curiosity, enthusiasm and the memories we are creating together.

After the procession, before heading home. We stopped by a local eatery near the church for dinner. It was a perfect way to end the day, sharing food and experience. Simple as it may be, these moments remind me that balance is possible. I can nurture my spiritual life, enjoy quality time with my daughter and embrace life’s simple thing.

Experience like the Candle Festival strengthen my faith and bring our family closer together. I am grateful for these moments and hope to continue sharing them with my daughter for years to come.

I didn't know that festival exist!
Same here as long as I have time, I would go or attend any religious activities.

Not frequent, but trying my best so my son would grow up learning about faith

While I was reading your blog, I felt happy because you are training your child to be active and participate in church activities. Nowadays, because many parents are busy with life, one thing that is often forgotten is teaching children to be involved in church and spiritual activities.

This is also one thing that many OFWs miss about the Philippines, attending festivals. It’s something we grew up with, and it truly brings joy and a sense of tradition.
