How Many HIVE Posts Does It Take To Become A Whale?
Hi...
It is me again with my ranting.
I recently began thinking about hive and what progress on hive would mean for me as a person. I am trying to incorporate the SMART technique for most life events and activities now.
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. With regards to HIVE I have been thinking about what my goal on HIVE is and what would my future on HIVE look like.
Like everything else, I know that with HIVE, I must have a goal, one that is SMART. So I have been looking to other people on the platform for some form of inspiration with one question in mind: what do you want to achieve with HIVE.
At first, I though of HIVE as a place to make a quick buck but just writing anything as long as I am able to get people to engage on it. With time, I got to realize that HIVE is actually the opposite of where you make a quick buck. I found out that if I wanted to make money quickly, then HIVE was not the place to do it.
So I kept investigating, reading the experience of others on HIVE to find out for myself; what would be the best goal for engaging on the platform.
Meet the Whales.
Before I got on HIVE, I never knew who or what a whale was. Then gradually, I began to understand the concept of whale accounts. It was strange to me, but I thought to myself, maybe the goal would be to engage on HIVE until my account became a "whale" account.
Maybe if I posted massively and regularly, then my account would become a whale account. But a question then pops up:
How many hive posts does it take to become a whale?
Again, I began to slowly see the futility of engaging on HIVE with that intent. It made me look desperate, like a beggar, putting up with low quality posts and spending insane amount of time reading through very boring articles.
Back To the Drawing Board
So, I went back to the beginning to find a valid reason, a remarkable goal for which I could constantly engage on the platform.
At some point, I took some break, engaged with other social media platforms. It was fun, but I knew that I was just using those to pass time and wasn't really doing anything that was of any impact.
I would go through facebook, and twitter(X), and instagram, and tiktok, spend insane amounts of time watching and reading people who create content, most of them cashing out from the rewards they got. I found that they spent insane amount of time and hours ensuring that the content is seen by a large amount of people.
Most of these are just entertainment content, nothing that is able to produce any meaningful change in my life. I was just whiling away precious time.
The revelation.
Then it dawned on me, the very goal I should imbibe in my engagement with the HIVE platform. See, for a long time, I have struggled with communicating effectively what things I knew. I struggled with finding the words to bring my ideas to life. But what if HIVE could be that place where I practice.
Practice, as they say, makes perfect. If I see HIVE as a place to horn my skills as a writer and effective communicator, it becomes easy to write a lot more, and to engage a lot more.
In addition, what if HIVE could be another place to help people with simple and actionable information regarding health and wellbeing? So when I write, I am not writing to attract upvotes(even though I appreciate every single upvote I get). It is way deeper than that...
I am writing with 2 goals in mind.
- To make myself a better communicator(I know that is selfish)
- To provide information that is practicable and of immense utility concerning health and wellbeing.
Are these goals SMART? Hell, yeah.
If I get upvotes and help the platform become a giant hub of information and activity as a result of achieving the goals above, it is an added bonus that I am more than happy to welcome.
Final Words.
If I may give a bit of advice, dont create for upvotes... find your own reason to create. Let it be an expression of your uniqueness. Upvotes may be the resulting consequence, but if you have a goal for creating, the presence of absence of upvotes do not deter you from pressing on.
Today's rant is more of a talk session...
Till I rant again.

I think it’s good that you started on a particular path, things didn’t work out so you took a break and then did some evaluation. I think it’s important to keep pursuing things like building your brand, skills and experience in many fronts. Keep posting, commenting and refining yourself and your brain because it’s important to not always look at the short term goals but having long term ones is very important.
I have screenshots and remember well my account at 2 hive power and now I’ve got a lot more than that. It’s dedication, luck and perseverance to make moves with things like that.
Developing my brand, that's something I realized to do only recently and I have been working hard on doing.
Thank you for your kind words and support.
