I've not even be able to see my SURGE balance on leodex so buying or swapping is so unlikely to happen...

Swapping for SURGE on LeoDex works just fine when I use a keystone wallet. And the token shows up with my balance too.

Thanks for the feedback... I don't use keystore, I don't like to have too many wallets so I use Metamask and Keplr.

Did you try refreshing?
Also to avoid cross-chain issues, you could trade to another token on base that you already hold on another blockchain first (USDC on Arbitrum to USDC on Base). I think this can avoid something like a failed transaction that gets refunded later. Just an idea
