Elon Musk is suing ChatGPT inventor OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, among others, for abandoning the company's original mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity and not for profit.

Musk's lawyers said in a lawsuit filed in San Francisco that the company's focus on making money violated that contract. They added that the company keeps the design of its most advanced artificial intelligence model, GPT-4, completely secret.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the board in 2018. He also runs electric car maker Tesla and rocket maker SpaceX, and acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022.

Last year, serial entrepreneur Altman was fired by OpenAI's former board, who said he was trying to defend the company's mission to develop AI that benefits humanity. A few days later, Altman returned to the company with a new first board.

OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT became the fastest-growing software application in the world within six months of its launch in November 2022. It also sparked the launch of competing chatbots from Microsoft, Alphabet and a host of startups that seized on the hype to secure billions of dollars in funding.

Let's see what's coming. Elon Musk is smart. A successful entrepreneur. For us, AI is very important for humanity. It's an ingenious invention.
